I thought Milwall offered very little today to be fair and we made so much hard work of it again.

Dont want to get on their backs too much after 3 points but cant help thinking anyone half decent would have battered us today.

I thought we were poor to keep hold of the ball a lot of the time, slow to play the key passes (especially TK), bad substitutions by Wilson (again), Steele again putting us under unnecessary pressure with poor decision making and if its tru the fringpong was on 25k a week at arsenal hes been stealing a living. I know its early days but he rarely looks to break sweat and is out for a sunday jog half the time. Jury still out on him for sure.

Big plusses today was again Dale Jennings was top drawer. We need to stay up just to keep hold of him. Jimbo and the 2 CH's also had a great game and I think Jack hunt is probably one of the best right backs i've seen along with tripps and good old nicky eaden.

On the subs - odd that Mellis only managed half a game. I dont buy the lack of match fitness story! One minute they say they need resting and now they say need matches. make yer mind up. He should have been fresh as a daisy after 3 weeks out. Thought Daws did well for a change even if he does run out of quality and composure when he needs it most. Terrible shooting which is a shame as weve all seen him smash em in.

And again Brek shae..................?????????????????????????????????????? This guy is just not atr the races and if he is ANY better defensively than Paddy McCourt ill eat my hat. He must have some sort of deal to play every game because hes not worth of a game ahead of either Paddy OR Cwyka.

Paddy would have ripped their back line to shreds. They were terrible and it was crying out for someone to take them on. For me Wilson was VERY VERY lucky today. It could all have gone very wrong had they nicked one at the end. We could have been out of sight had we not gone so negative.

And lastly its just fookin typical that everyone else around us won (apart from donny obviously). At least others have been dragged closer i guess. We need to kick on now and pick up another win back to back to get some confidence and belief.

    Fingers crossed! You reds!

It's called Early Goal Syndrome. Protecting a vulnerable one goal lead for 90 minutes, having already worked out ramifications of the league. It's why to concede a late equaliser feels like a defeat, even though it might be a fair result. Or why scoring a late equaliser is a euphoric result, because you have just spent the best part of 90 minutes living with defeat. With our record for throwing matches away, to get to the end one up would be more a relief than a triumph. It's all psychological.

Pretty much agree with the original post. Feel more deflated tonight than I did on Tuesday. Awful Millwall side and we were equally awful and so desperate to cling on we ended up with virtually no attacking intent.

Well said and thank **** somebody saw the same game as me. Wilson left Cwyska and Paddy sat on their arses again when either one could have relieved the pressure put on by Millwall. I think Readybreak must have to play otherwise he would not be on. He donated nothing to the game. Why the big man Prostwietch ?was sacrificed for a 5-4-1 I will never know. Nearly cost us the game. The lads at the back were fantastic but personally I would put Kennedy on bench. He stops our attacks dead by either stopping, passing back, or trying to put ball onto left foot. Glad we won but not getting carried away, we need Wilson to stop having favourites. Why also was Nytanga not on bench, thought he played well at Wigan

I don't know which game you were watching with regards to frimpong who was a motm contender for me. Showed strength in dangerous situations, won the ball back numerous times, I think he gave the ball away once and used his pace to break which nearly resulted in in goal. A chance which due to poor finishing we didnt take.

    Got to agree with Omen,
the way we started i thought we would have it all wrapped up for half time. But yet again we sat back & let them come on to us causing our own problems.

Paddy would have had a field day today.

Missed the Frimpong criticism thought he played well especially first half.

he had a few good moments but he was strolling round without a care in the world half the time. Lets hope hes just getting up to pace with the championship otherwise hes no better than what we'd already got.

opinions and all that - agree with most but not all. Millwall were never going to tear us apart, but we did allow them to believe they could at times. A better team could very well have mauled us. Agree about Shea, as per my post, and St Paddy, but can't agree with you about Frimps. He was a clown vs Wendies, but yesterday I thought he was class - up there with JOB for MOM. The fact that he didn't break sweat possibly testament to how easy he found it ? Again, in my post I mentioned the fact that he did't appear interested - if Danny can stick a rocket up his ass I think we have a reet player on our books.

I thought DW was very negative yesterday.

When he went 1 up front with 20 mins to go, all it needed was an error or bad decision and Millwall were back in the game.
Cwyka or Paddy would have been better options than Shea.

OK, yes we got 3 points, but we could have gone on and dominated that match, filling ourselves with confidence........we missed that opportunity.

When you are at the bottom and fighting to survive wins are all that count. Leave the good performances and pretty football for when we are safe.

Ever heard of the saying "win ugly". Another 3 or 4 of these and the mood around here will dramatically change.

Agree totally with your post Omen apart from the criticism of Frimpong. I thought he had a good game and broke up Millwall possession on a continual basis.
Cannot for the life of me understand why Dawson came on for the second half. Don't get me wrong he played as well as he can, but the situation was ideal for Paddy to come on and exploit Millwalls back 4.
On to Huddersfield where if we perform like yesterday we will be lucky to come away with a point and the the Forest and Leicester games.
4 points from the next 9 on offer would be a decent return imo

Really Really Really starting to get fed up of reading this 1 up front means defensive/ negative or whatever bull sh*t people come out with.
It's the thinking of people from the dark ages, it really is.

Bayern Barca madrid (Both teams) Arsenal Chelsea Manchester city (in the big games) Spain Brazil
All play 1 up front with two wide men.....

Cywka or Paddy wouldn't have done nothing yesterday.

I thought Frimpong was MOTM yesterday okay you might not have but he did a great job and Mellon mentioned him after the game, I bet you the defence haven't got your opinion of him.

I don't agree with a lot of what you or omen have said.

Can see us being competitive against those 3, lost by the odd goal at Forest and Leicester at a time when others up at the top were thumping us. Having said that 3 games in 7 days against Forest, Leicester and Watford may take its toll.

He came on and played a fecking blinder. Gave us energy and drive , I thought he pushed us on far more than Mellis. Yet it seems that you are incapable of giving either Dawson or wilson any credit at all !

It's people putting their opinion forward, Phil. You're entitled to disagree. I'm with you, I'd prefer us to play with just one up top, especially against the calibre of sides around the corner for us.
However, it's the same system that Boro are using, and they've now gone 6 games without scoring, over 10 hours without a goal. With quality players as well. Because they're not suited to the system. Horses for courses for us I feel. At home, I'd expect Danny to stick with two up front. Away, I think we'll see Proschwitz or COG as the lone striker and strengthen midfield. However, I could be wrong.

We are Barnsley, mate. I could quote you the Dortmund system, Athletico Madrid's or PSG's. It would be irrelevant, though. You're referring to some of the best football teams on the planet with world class players in each position. We are Barnsley.

That's your opinion. I'm personally giving up the calls for Paddy or whoever to start. I'm going to let Danny get on with picking the team. No amount of bellyaching on here is going to alter his mindset.

However, I reckon both Paddy and Cywka are better players than Shea.
