Is it because people genuinely believe he does not contribute anything or because they perceive is keeping McCourt and the pea for a heart Polska out of the team?

Bringing Shea on yesterday before those two was the right decision in my opinion.

Any player who keeps favourites out will be hated. I thought he did okay, got better as game went on

I thought he did ok when he came on, as did Dawson, who I thought had a great game in the 2nd half.

What about Dawson though, Conan? Isn't he one of your toilers that you cannae stand?

Give me Paddy or Cywka over Shea every day of the week.

I think he's quality, good control and vision plus pace he can only get better. The way him and Jim played out the game shouldn't be underestimated with the recent late goals we have been letting in.

Shea has more ability than Dawson. I think people have got the lad wrong and are writing him off too soon and too harshly.

He's shown nothing so far. No assists no goals as a primarily offensive player this is not great. He also appears to only defend when he feels like it. Far too early to judge though for a lad who only played a couple of games in 2013. Looks like he's playing his way back to fitness to me. Not sure a relegation battle is the place or him to do that.

Harshly? You're the one saying nonsense like heart for a pea or whatever. About a player who waits patiently for his chance and scores vital goals when he gets it. Talk about watching a different game, I must be watching a different club!!

I'm underwhelmed so far. Probably not fair to judge too harshly though as he's clearly lacking fitness and is returning from a pretty serious injury (iirc) and has no real form as yet. He will get better but whether that will happen in a timescale that suits us is another matter.

He worked very hard when he came on and did a good containment job.
As he was on the bench yesterday who exactly is he keeping out?
The substitution was tactical and we won the game. Job done.

You are. You didn't get to the game yesterday did you?

What's your definition of the word "vital", just out of interest?

am i hearing this right? you've spent the best part of the last 2 seasons berating the same handful of players on a daily basis. now there's a player you finally quite like, you're objecting to people criticising his performances?

Interesting that the best someone can say about a player who is meant to be an offensive player is that he tightened things up.

    Where have I objected?

    I'm just asking the question.
