Wilson was going crazy as he had the cheek of looking to attack and not sit deep. Not sure it was entirely aimed at at Mellis though.

Got to disagree! Not played in 3. Put a shift in. Rather have him than not. Well played Jacob!.

I didn't go today, so as an impartial adviser I'd say Supertyke has lost this debate quite convincingly. He has irrational previous regarding Mellis too. Not quite Hassell-gate, but still a bit hysterical.

(Whatever you do, don't tell about the lack of pissing vinegar and ketchup, wine gums and chocolate in the Ponty.)

well I thought he was poor too ST. thought he went missing far too much and we defended our lead far more comfortably once Dawson came on. I said at half time I'd have taken Mellis off but probably not for Dawson, but I thought he had a very good game, so credit where its due Danny.

It was a typical Mellis performance really. Those of us who expect that when he plays in a four man midfield, he gets back into position quickly when an attack breaks down in order to defend in front of the back four will have been very disappointed with his game yesterday. The fact that O'Brien had to come inside in order to fill the gap left by Mellis' refusal to defend properly caused Mellis' substitution at half time for Dawson. Posters' opinion of Mellis depends entirely on whether they follow his contribution to the game both when we attack, and when we defend. If you look at both, you cannot help but have the opinion that Mellis needs to play in a 5 man midfield, or not at all.

I thought he had an ok game, I distinctly remember him breaking their possession on more than 1 occasion too. Strange game to choose to berate him IMO.

It'll be interesting to see what Wilson says as I thought he defended well for 30 mins then took a knock & struggled through to half time & O'Brien helped him out cos he was injured.

He needs a rocket up his ares.....

He is to casual when on the ball, he just needs a bit more urgency about him, as he does have talent. I said before half time we had to change it as Millwall was coming through the middle to easy. Danny was screaming instructions after 25 mins and JOB had to come inside to cover Mellis not getting box to box quick enough!

I was more than happy with the sub at half time, Dawson did really well yesterday and we looked a lot more controlled defending & attacking in the 2nd half!

Yes that's what I saw him playing reasonably and making some important interceptions then carry a knock he tried to run off and failed so subbed at half tine.

I can't believe no one mentions how crap 'Lescott O'Grady' is with that forehead he should win everything he's terrible he missed the ball completely inside the 6 yard back yet SuperTyke mentions other players wouldn't know football if he fell over one springs to mind!

I like the way there is a degree of self-censorship involved.

Shall I call myself "Dave"? Nah, not offensive enough. What about "Fistybumw@nk"? Nah, that's just a bit too offensive. I know - Fistybumw++k. That's just right.

He will find a club and maybe even in championship, but when they have had him for a few weeks his games will become less and less. Many on here relate this issue to grafters v flair players, when it is not. It is more about attitude and commitment to the cause and in my opinion he shows very little. Toilers v flair, you need both in a balanced team and one cannot work without the other. Funny how rafters are often castigated and called toilers whereas flair players are exalted. The best flair players always put a shift in. Guess where I think Mellis fits!
