Bridge of Orchy Hotel, Glencoe, Scotland They forgot the starters, so we said leave them and bring the mains. Brought main course, crap. Sweet, passable. When they brought the bill the starters were on it, so we refused to pay. Instead of knocking it off, they brought the starters out after we'd finished. We laughed that much we eventually paid up for the entertainment value.
I may well have done, but a burger and chips and a pint of ale for a fiver is my idea of heaven anyway.
I don't want this story to put anyone off Frankie and Benny's, I do enjoy it there usually. Anyway, I went yesterday to take advantage of their lunch offer and found 3 little black hairs in my starter. Unfortunately, I'd already eaten over three quarters of the food, so I don't know how many hairs I'd already eaten up to that point. I wasn't going to complain after the first, the second peed me off a bit, but by the time I'd found the third (which was the exact time the server asked me how the food was), I had to say something. He did knock the price of my entire meal (all 3 courses) off of the bill though, and offer to replace the starter, so I wasn't too disgruntled.
They are one of the few places who do a decent veggie breakfast. Set you up all day one of them, ace before setting off for away matches. I had some Batchelors instant pasta the other day, which gave me lock-jaw.
Some salmon disaster I got served in a hotel in Bawtry. We were on a freebie through my gf at the time though so didn't have to pay. I left them in no doubt what I thought of it though as we'd been on the free drinks all day.
Jimmy Chungs in Dundee. So called all you can eat chinese food. my god, it was vile, i think i ended having chips and ice cream. (not on the same plate, though that couldn't have been worse than the muck on offer!)
