I'm completely with you I'm not sticking up for Davey or anything just trying to point out the others weren't perfect.

Agreed 100% on O'Connor he looked a real player when we first got him. And Harewood was brilliant in that first loan spell, he declined rapidly in the year afterwards. But there were also your Arismendis, Noubles, Lovre, O'Neill Thompson etc

To summarise I'm just saying they all spent/wasted a good amount of money. Probably Davey more than others.

Hume was coming good big time when he got the injury, and then he was never the same player again, we were looking decent at that time.

Most of the Davey haters disliked him from the start because he wasn't a big name and was promoted from within (the old 'cheap option' argument). And then it went downhill from there!

We were not really, yet when he was injured he suddenly accquired God like status and his performances were upgraded from OK to Messiesque !

I'm sure we were around mid table after around 18 games. And he'd scored a few goals, some of the worldies. Not over hyping him, or us.

In his career up to then , the best goals total he had in a season was 17. he was an average player that Davey paid over the odds for. He was not a bad player, but he suddenly became a great one when he was injured !!

8th November 2008 was the date Morgan did Hume. We were 18th after that loss with 18 points from 16 games. 3 points ahead of the relegation places but only 3 points behind Swansea in 12th. Hume had 4 goals from his 16 games. I think every one was a beauty. It was that he was missing the tap-ins or not getting on the end of crosses that was frustrating because the goals he did score were superb.

thought we were higher than that but just checked and you're right. By the end of november we were 14th !

I've not claimed he was great but he was definitely a good championship player, probably not worth what we paid for him but he was starting to look the part before he was robbed of a few years of his career.

    he was only 24. And 17 isn't bad. He wasn't a poacher.

My best memories of this stint in this division were under Davey. Not the nicest of blokes and yes he had some failures in his signings but also signed the Best player we've had since coming back up in Muller and gems in Da Silva and first period Colace who I loved watching play for us. So yes I don't really understand the animosity. Probably something in the theory of him not being a big name and being perceived to be a mate of the chairmans. He had to go in the end having lost the plot like another of my favourite managers Mel Machin did but I feel there is too much animosity in comparison to the easy ride that lovely person Hill gets.

Probably true. I'll never forget the massive six hour plus queue for Liverpool tickets and he walked out of the side of the box office head down into his 4x4 and drove off. Didn't acknowledge fans, ask them how they are, thank them for queuing or even look at them.

That said Davey brought us alot of good memories.

In my opinion, were worse now than at the end of Keith Hill's reign.

The thing with Hume was that in the few games before his injury he'd really looked to of become a good player at this level but due to Morgan we were robbed of seeing whether he could keep that form up

To be fair the win at Anfield, the win over Chelsea, reaching the semi final. Watching someone as good as Muller or Da Silva play for us. All managers ding a donkey or two though you're right about Odeyjayi. I have more good than bad memories of his tenure.

I didn't hate him, I just thought he was a poor manager. I did however hear things about him (from a player) that led me to believe he was sly and couldn't be trusted - I didn't want a man like that in charge of BFC.
