As is well documented on here I'm completely against racism but there simply is NO racism at all in a white person choosing to go in fancy dress as a black person just like it wouldn't make me sexist if I dressed up as ginger spice complete with union jack dress for a party or homophobic if as part of a fancy dress party I painted my face bright orange and went as dale winton for a laugh or wore a white tshirt with 'choose life' on for an 80s do

What annoys me is when a tiny tiny percent of people get upset by it and then it is published as though the whole world is against it when really they should be saying to the FA 'you're offended? tough ****' and told to **** off by the lass in question

I certainly hope no-ones going to show "White Chicks" on TV anymore because surely that must be racist too.

Agreed 100%......... last year I went to a works HR convention on what's expected in the workplace. Language, behaviour etc etc. the overriding theme (baring in mind I worked in a company with 1000's of staff/employees) was that it only takes ONE person to be offended.

When asked by HR what that means. I questioned that surely the one person should be the one in question, not the other 999+ that understand that diversity and understanding (excluding sexism racism ageism etc) exists in all walks of life. Makes my blood boil !!!!!!!!

I agree that it should only take one person to be offended for an investigation to be launched to ascertain if anything has been said that shouldnt and that it shouldnt necessarily be the one it is aimed at (can think of a few examples where that'd be the case) but that certainly shouldn't be enough for a 'guilty' verdict from the investigation and if necessary that 1 person should be told that theyre being stupid

It saddens me that we have allowed the damned 'PC' brigade such an influential voice in this country.

Do you lot get paid to be so outraged or do you do it on the side as a hobby? To be fair to you, you put in plenty of effort either way.

To be fair Jay. I'm only outraged cos this has even dared to make national news. No publicity = no outrage from me.

It all just seems like a single edged sword to me. I don't particulary enjoy having to live in an environment where you have to double think every sentence/move/action just cos someone maybe offended!

Yes. There are very few circumstance I can think of where it would be appropriate to put boot polish on and give yourself a Jim Davison style "Chalky" accent.

Bit like some of the puddings on here who get offended - should have a thicker skin and laugh it off instead of crying over their keyboard

    "outraged" is your interpretation.

What is your point as far as people stating their opinions is concerned?

It's a load of **** though mate. No one is offended, no one thinks it's racist, no one is being punished or reprimanded, it's just a none story. Usually it's the kind of work associated with the tabloids in an attempt to appeal to the people who buy their papers so they keep on buying them. I'm a bit disappointed the BBC has chosen to report it, but **** it, I've just had a home made curry, a few bottles of IPA and I feel great. If you're going to get passionate about something there's plenty of things in this world out there, like the situation in Ukraine or people the world over dying of malnutrition while we chuck millions of tons of food away or how **** Barnsley are at the moment. This is just bum juice.

Who did she apologise to? I stopped reading after the first paragraph as it was predictable tiresome bilge. Was it Whoopi? because that woman has been is some seriously $hit films and not once, not once, has she said anything to me that even resembled an apology. Not so much as a by your leave about the quality of said films.

and popping up as an intergalactic bar tender does not make Jumpin Jack Flash in any way acceptable...

I guess it all comes down to context, put in historical context, the last 300 years has seen the oppression of Africans, through slavery and conquest. To this day White people have used blacking up as a form of abuse - see Lewis Hamilton. To say that you can take all historical and social context out of the act of blacking up and just say its people being over sensitive is nonsense.
