Ecclestone continued: "We have got a contract on the table with France for a race at Magny Cours."

If there was an F1 race in Tarn, where would the course be?

I would have the start on Peel Street outside the job centre, heading towards town. Then the cars would head right past the market, right again past the Alhambra centre and then left down Harborough Hills. At the bottom they would career round the PC World Island and head back up Old Mill Lane, ensuring that the leading cars had to cross the path of the back markers still heading down Harborough Hills.

At the top of Old Mill Lane they would turn left past the front of the Town Hall, along Shambles Street and left at the Town End roundabout to complete the lap. It would be a great boost to the local economy.

Creating The Monaco of The North.

Bit noisy during qualifying though - would wake a few up at the back of the West Stand.

That's a good point, Oakwell should be included on the route. The start could be in the main car park, with the cars exiting onto Pontefract Road and heading straight up Oakwell Lane, with a policeman on duty to stop the cars if pedestrians wanted to cross. At the top of Oakwell Lane they would go right onto Donny road, then right again onto Sheffield Road, left past Morrisons to the Town End roundabout and thence onto my original route.

Still some way off I would think, but there's been a lot of talk about reprising the idea. it would most likely be the European Grand Prix, but I think you have to bid for that seasons ahead. There was a feature on local news last week, the circuit plan is amazing. I would definitely try to get tickets.

I saw it on the news.
100 million plus for the local area.
Some of the current and past drivers were saying it would over take Monaco as the best race of the year....

100 million, wouldn't buy much in that area!! I don't think they could run it every year, but the Olympics showed how things can be done with the right organisation. The new circuit plan is much better than the old one which went through too many built up streets, which was still cool, but this is much more spectator friendly.

Just waiting for someone to say, 'London gets everything', when motor-sports happen everywhere else but.... :D

Think F1 would like it. It would be like printing money for them .

    100/130 thousand they estimated .

Might get f1 racers buying homes in area

I think they'll probably scrape by. The nice thing with Magny-Cours is that it's in a very poor area (the second poorest department in France) and the circuit was at least partly intended to bring some much needed revenue into the area, rather than into the pockets of the millionaires.

I'm not knocking France although it's a place i've never been.
Just think that the F1 circus would like to go to London and have a race there for finances.

Just said on radio 1, that Bernie Ecclestone is hoping for a Grand Prix in Azerbaijan to be added to the calendar from 2015.

How many races are they going to have soon.
India will be soon won't it and America will also want a more regular race.

When they add a new circuit, it usually means someone else loses out. Which is why France doesn't currently have a GP.

They just move it to a different country rather than having a bigger calendar. Goes to the place where they can make most money. There was issues with the track at Indianapolis, which was the reason USA lost their Grand Prix in the first place. I remember watching the 6 car race they had about 10 years ago when they refused to add a chicane before the final corner because the cars with a particular tyre brand were having mass tyre failure due to the speed they were coming around the final banked bend.

San Marino used to have a grand prix too. Germany used to have 2.
