Re: Solvent, debt free, well ran club : 0 - 3 : £100m Debt ridden, baled out chancers Or maybe the team that scored 3 today should be accurately described as debt free, own their ground, premier league bound etc etc etc.
Re: Solvent, debt free, well ran club : 0 - 3 : £100m Debt ridden, baled out chancers Hopefully your sugar daddy is in it for the long-haul, because if he walks away from his play-thing you won't know how to stand on your own 2 feet anymore - wracking up debts year after year that he has now absorbed apparently...good luck when he has had enough with his latest ego trip.
Re: Solvent, debt free, well ran club : 0 - 3 : £100m Debt ridden, baled out chancers Don't know how much you actually follow Championship football but we actually cleared all our debt earlier this season. And Nigel Pearson has spent the last 2 years significantly cutting our squad's big earners and hardly spending anything, especially cpmpared to the likes of QPR and Forest. Best of luck for rest of season, always an away day i enjoy and the best chip shop i have ever been to near your ground
Re: Solvent, debt free, well ran club : 0 - 3 : £100m Debt ridden, baled out chancers I've never had to say this to an opposition supporter before, but you seriously need to do some research on the inner dealings of your football club, old flower. The BFC stadium and as you may have noticed, the extensive and desirable training complex - is indeed in shared ownership with the local authority. This is done purposely, to protect it's existence from exactly the sort of shifty basterd who currently has your club and it's holdings held tightly by the balls, on the off chance he can stabilise it in the premier league and re-coup the £100m+ it took to unethically, if not illegally drag it from bankruptcy. Live the dream while it lasts, old **** and we'll see you season after next, before you go visit Portsmouth.
Re: Solvent, debt free, well ran club : 0 - 3 : £100m Debt ridden, baled out chancers "We actually cleared out debt"? We??? City were shamefully baled out and saved from virtual extinction. The motivations of your owner have yet to come to light. If that was my club, I would be shitting bricks and I'd take a relegation over promotion in these circumstances. The top of the league has given you all a nose bleed and you can't see what the rest of football can. Appreciate to warm sentiments, hope you enjoyed the trip up.
Re: Solvent, debt free, well ran club : 0 - 3 : £100m Debt ridden, baled out chancers To be fair we owe Pat a few bob if he goes
Re: Solvent, debt free, well ran club : 0 - 3 : £100m Debt ridden, baled out chancers If we were to ever get promoted, he would like a drop back. It's hardly an 'owe'.
Re: Solvent, debt free, well ran club : 0 - 3 : £100m Debt ridden, baled out chancers I cant believe all this talk about us spending so much on your forum tonight. Have you seen how QPR are doing? Compare that side in size, value and money spent this season to ours for a moment. Nigel Pearson has raised so much money from clearing up Svens mess. Alongside our owners clearing our debt before our inevitable money rolls in from the Premier League, we are in a great position on and off the field. All the best to you but this bitterness is not only misplaced but completely unjustified
We could all be top of the league if we operated like you have. Just one example as its closer to home. Drinkwater was excellent for us. Then you signed him. With (a) money you didn't have, and (b) will be paying him 'big' wages you couldn't afford! (well, without adding to the already mission millions). How anyone can argue that's a level playing field is beyond me! Just a thought like!!! I'd like to wish you well........ but can't! Jealousy......No, another reason to realise that modern football is so far removed from the game I fell in love with, YES! Ps Yes, QPR are as bad. As are Bolton, Birmingham etc etc that doesn't make it any better!
Re: Solvent, debt free, well ran club : 0 - 3 : £100m Debt ridden, baled out chancers Do you really think you have "cleared your debt"? You haven't done anything of the sort. What you have done is transfer your debt to one man and, as has been proved time and time again, and as people above have tried to point out to you, should he suddenly decide he's had enough it's administration again for you. Only this time you won't get away with paying for a new stadium. The football league had to change the rules the last time you played the system, so I'd suggest a touch of humility may your best option. We came out of administration and vowed never to make the same mistakes again. We've even sacked two chairmen when it looked like the finances were getting out of hand. What did Leicester do? Took the pi55 out of all the people you stiffed last time and run up another debt of over £100m. Disgusting. We clear our debt by developing and selling players, you have invited the wolves through the door. That will never happen to us as long as our current owner is alive and hopefully will never happen at all. Clubs like yourselves, Blackburn, Bolton and QPR make me sick. Money has ruined football and Leicester are one of the main culprits. So enjoy your promotion, because when it all starts going t!ts up next season the attitude of the Leicester fans and players are going to stop normal football fans from having an ounce of sympathy for you. Sorry, just one more time. "Cleared our debts!" That's like someone taking out one of them loans that gets advertised on daytime TV to 'consolidate your loans' and saying they've cleared their debts!! You live in cloudcuckooland my friend.
Re: Solvent, debt free, well ran club : 0 - 3 : £100m Debt ridden, baled out chancers Couldn't have said it better myself. I keep hearing the word 'jealous' from fans of the so called bigger clubs, but i'm far from jealous. I guess it is easy for fans to get lost in the current sucess and the dizzy heights of the Premier League, but they miss the fact that the men who run the clubs will soon get bored and move on. They don't give a s@*t about the fans and wouldn't give them a second thought when they do. Leeds is another prime example. This Italian already started pumping money in BUT rumour is that he is now withdrawing his support due to the FL delay in authorising the takeover and pending court case. He wont just walk away, he will want the money returned. Big wages of Wickham & Butland. I'll stick to supporting a club who operate corretly thanks. Yes the football might not be pretty, we might get relegated but I know we will still have a club for years to come.
Haha. Are you seriously saying you've had No advantage from the money ploughed in? Of course you have...if you think otherwise you're deluded. And you're certainly not on a level playing field with us. The only good thing from your perspective is that your loans have been turned into equity So at least your owner can't walk away without a personal hit. But the fact is you've just spent money until you got it right - doesn't matter whether you're debt free or not. Now whether that model is justified or not is a different question. All businesses have to invest to grow...should football be any different? I'd say Yes, But can definitely see the other side of the argument too. If Patrick Cryne borrowed a pound today to get two back tomorrow would any of us object or would we just say good business. Difficult to know where to draw the line I'd say. Quite difficult to separate out genuine investment for long term gain from wild speculation by cowboy owners.
If Patrick Cryne borrowed a pound today to get two back tomorrow would any of us object or would we just say good business. Difficult to know where to draw the line I'd say. I understand the analogy. But borrowing/spending 100's of millions with absolutely no guarantee of ever recouping a penny of it either tomorrow or ever can't surely be right in any form of business. We'd all borrow a quid to double our money! If it was guaranteed payback or we were gamblers. And/or we had sufficient facility to sustain our loss.......

It's not bitterness you are destroying the soul of football and as long as you are happy with that then fair play to you. Don't start crying when you go out of business though. I used to think that I didn't want any club to go out of business for the normal fans like you now it's going to take summat like that for people to wake up. And debt free? I don't think so just passed from one shady businessman to another. The cost of your promotion is 100 million plus it's ridiculous and wrong
I do agree with you. The fact is that mostly the clubs that are being run like this won't make a long term profit...which probably means that for the most part they are taking on more risk than they should. Ultimately that's not a good thing to be encouraging. Also for every winner at football there is a loser too...So it just wouldn't work if everyone had this model. I don't buy into the narrative of all foreign owners and all debt being bad though. Stuff that genuinely improves long term prospects of a club should be welcomed. But ultimately there's probably too much risk in most football investment for it to be sensible from a business point of view. Appreciate ive probably contradicted myself many times in that response.

Re: Solvent, debt free, well ran club : 0 - 3 : £100m Debt ridden, baled out chancers I just think that when they reach the premiership they should morally go back and pay back everything they got out of paying to former creditors the last time they had money problems. Granted they aren't legally entitled to but it would show them in a better light.
Re: Solvent, debt free, well ran club : 0 - 3 : £100m Debt ridden, baled out chancers I think people are mistaking yearly losses for debt. Also the work that has been put in since Pearson returned to comply to FFP rules has been excellent. Most signings have been up-and -coming younger players not former Premier players on big wages and Academy youngsters have been given a chance. I cannot argue against what happened under Sven as that was a disgrace and a desperate attempt to get promoted quickly...but the club is very different now.
Re: Solvent, debt free, well ran club : 0 - 3 : £100m Debt ridden, baled out chancers Aye, very different. As evidenced by your signing of Danny Drinkwater.
