I started at Hickleton in 1982, then transfered to Askern where I spent 2 years before moving to Markham Main, where I stayed until 1992. I tell people even nowadays it was the best job/career I have ever had. I only came out of the mines because 2 of my colleagues died in the last 12 months.

My dad worked at North gawber then ended up at north Selby pit similar to you on the Selby complex with the promise of work until he retired, That was in 87 and he had finished by 92. Would go back tomorrow if it was offered I'm sure as he is making fudge for a living now.
My dad worked at Houghton Main. He started in about 1947 and finished after strike when they were offering redundancy.

Looks like we may have worked together, this was the time I was working at Markham Main I was an onsetter at the main shaft for a while.
You're obviously a young lad. As you get older you'll also reminisce about the old days and the characters you worked with. It's called nostalgia.
I would assume so, Came in and went on the buttons for a few months and then Safety Team, PGF, RCM, Chocks for a while and finally Methane Borer. Cough, there's coal dust all over my keyboard now! Sithee.
