Don't kid yourself stitts its not a case of that at all so don't come the injured cat .its a great deal to do with the ***** you put out in your threads so dont try to hide behind "its because I have opposite views " sympathy. Some of the things you said about peoples experience with the NHS puts you on a par with hemsie imo .

Blair was more rigt wing than thatcher and hitler combined. Shame he had to hide behind the labour party to get into power...

Having said, although I vote Labour now, that I voted Lib dems until they sold their soul to the tories in the coalition. I can't believe what they have enabled the tories to pull off as if they have a majority. I hated what Tony Blair did to Labour in the 90s and 2000s and agreed more with the Liberal manifestos

Whilst I am completely happy about the Lib dems losing votes through any means possible, I read your post and thought of how many Lib Demmers have said the same thing since 2010. But to me, its muddled thinking. Lib Dems are all for proportional representation which results in permanent coalition. Coalition means compromise. They can't have it both ways, saying we want coalition, unless its with those tory bstards.

So I'm slightly left-of centre but the other posters on this site are much further left and that makes me right wing?

I've got news for you lot, the average person is in the centre, I have more in common with the common man and his average views than the people on the far left on this site, which is what I've said all along.

Just been down to make my compulsory vote about five hours ago for the state election.

I'm quite firmly left so allus vote Green. I can't understand the right wing way of thinking at all. It seems evil to me. Maybe I've misunderstood something somewhere. Looks like the right leaning Liberals will get in though. It seems that cutting company tax "to help create jobs" is more appealling than generating jobs through state development projects. Help create jobs my ar$e. It'll just help line the pockets of rich private investors.

Yes it is. Because private sector jobs that are created through growth and investment are real jobs that have more chance of being here next year than state job creation schemes. The basic truth is that when an economy is doing well and businesses are thriving, everyone has a better chance of being employed, doing well and being better off. The problem some people have with that is that successful businesses means some people getting rich.

The problems there though, the way I see them (and I know I sometimes look at things a little idealistically), are...

First there is the assumption that handing tax breaks to private companies will generate jobs. We all know that private companies aren't unconditionally altruistic and will take a profit over what's best for the community. That's just the way they are. Wouldn't expect them to act differently. Some will use the money to expand their workforce or avoid pending cuts, but many won't. The market remains the same, regardless of how much tax they're paying. A tax break won't magically create a new contract or order so there wouldn't necessarily be an incentive to expand.

Second, those state projects were real jobs, for the private sector. Things like infrastructure upgrades, a new overpass, a new hospital... they were all providing work and opportunities, real contracts not just an option to expand, but with the added bonus of something to show for it at the end, to benefit the local community. Not to mention the economic benefits of improved road infrastructure. Now these types of ventures face harsh cuts. Just by changing policy you're messing with contractor's futures, rendering investment useless, causing genuine businesses to fold. A government u-turn, now the Liberals are in, on a national broadband network has left private companies with millions of dollars of equipment going to rust.

I guess there is no real answer here... just two opposing philosophies.

I'd say anyone who wants to see the end of the NHS is pretty much to the right Michael Gove myself. I'd put you somewhere between UKIP and the far right of the conservative party based on your posts on here. Of course they may not be reflective of your views but I can only say what I see.

I have always voted Labour. The Tories when they get in control the money in the country. The working class are not their cup of tea. When Labour gets in the Tories move their money out of the country. Liberals are a party that tries to live of other partys
Ed Milliband is a nice bloke, but was voted in by unions, and he then sold them down river. If his brother had got in the Tories would have been out this next election
