I said all along that he bottled it in the ashes series when he came home because he couldn't handle the pressure. Nothing to do with 'mental illness' at all - as ive said before the man should never get near an England team again. With all due respect, I would say that you were not right.

There are many mental health issues people can suffer from, not just depression.

He said he was suffering from a stress related condition ie. burnout or a type of breakdown.

this can be overcome in a relatively short time if the pressures causing it are removed. Of course it can re-occur if the pressures become real again, and they may do so for Trott. Its not an underlying depressive illness is all he has confirmed.

Vaughan ought to keep his gob shut as he didn't look far off having the same happen to him when he was shedding tears after the South Africans has caused his resignation as captain. Quote "my body is working well, but my mind is not". Short memory lad. At least Trott is attempting a comeback.

 

He wouldn't have been burnt out if he had scored a 100 though would he? Load of rubbish, they can spin it as much as they like with stupid jargon such as 'burnout' but the fact is he bottled it when England needed him the most.

Would KP have got the same sympathy? I doubt it, he would have been accused of saving himself for the money spinning IPL - you know it and I know it.

 

He had as much chance of scoring a hundred in his mentally fragile state as I had, from my settee, thousands of miles away.

I agree re: Vaughan and I am really surprised that he has said what he has; whatever the truth with Trott I would have thought MV would have been keen to present support for him. I really like Vaughan but I think his comments are a little misguided.

 

Ok whatever you say, you are brilliant; I bow to your all conquering knowledge of mental illness and everything in the universe, and I wish I was you.

Nut job? Is that a term for someone with mental health issues. . I suffered burn out which resulted in a break down - after 12 months of medication, counselling, crisis team meetings etc I pulled myself round. People's perceptions of me changed because it's not a visible injury - people that mattered supported me and that's what helped me through in the end.
