Neutral observer (he's a Darlington fan) His first words - who the f.ck was that big centre half you laiked? Because he's *****. The release of Stephen Foster to be replaced by a half (if at all) fit Nyatanga and an imposter from L1 will go down as one of the biggest mistakes we've made in years. We're going down, lads. We were relegated as soon as Cranie got injured Tuesday night which considering the amount of money we've spent and the number of players brought in this Summer shows how much a f.ck up Mr Flitcroft was once he got the job. Utter f.ck up. Micky Mellon's red and white army.
Must admit, minutes into his first game I saw him play I did think his signing could go one of two ways! The new 'Darren Moore/commanding type' way, or the complete out and out liability way........... unfortunately... !
Wasn't Cranie injured at the start of this season too (and missed quite a few matches the previous season)?
Maybe so. I think he and Ramage though have been playing really well recently, especially under Danny.
I think they took a bit of a punt with M'Voto. Maybe they didn't even expect him to play much this season, but circumstances dictated otherwise. Cranie; Nyatanga; Wiseman and McNulty were all ahead of him in the pecking order. Out of that lot, I think only Wiseman was able to start in the early matches.
He was bought because he is the type of defender we didn't have, i.e. a big lump who can win the high ball. Let's not forget there were loads on here crying for one because two teams had stuffed us using the big lad up front from set pieces. He's only playing because we have no choice. We can't afford a big lump that can play on the floor as well and no money available for a loanee.
I agree with the point your making but unless we sort our defence out the last shread of hope of survival will be gone and the cost of going down is significantly more than getting a loan player to cover. With M'voto and Nyatnaga at centre half I think we are doomed.
He looked terrible at first, that away game at Forest was an embarrassment for him, but then I thought he put in a few decent performances until the Birmingham game - a clearance straight to one of theirs (not unlike the rest of the team) and giving away a penalty. Wilson took a look in training and didn't like what he saw, so he's been out of the side ever since. Came back on as a sub v Leicester and was, to put it mildly, awful. But he wasn't alone in that. Sounds like much of the same at Watford. Any team who comes to Oakwell and plays the ball in the air up to their forwards and M'Voto would cope absolutely fine. Inject a little pace and play the ball on the ground and this division looks a step too far. A big step. He's not the only one in our squad you could accuse of that though. Can't see us winning many while he's in the team, but we didn't win many anyway.
Too true. We don't know if there is no money available, if money will be available after the Brek Neck loan payments cease or if Danny is saving up for summer sales and doesn't want another loan. Is there boardroom level decision to give up and re-build from L1? A bit o' brass spent now could save our championship status, but can Danny get the right player to come on loan. Let's face it, were not an attractive proposition. You'd need a skin as thick as a rhino's if you weren't brilliant from minute one.
I reckon he's been responsible for at least a goal every game, mate. But he's not the uncompromising, strong centre half people make him out to be. He's won a couple of headers but his lack of positioning means he doesn't win half as many as he should. I'd keep him here for next season though.
A big nasty basterd is what I used to say we needed. Not a big, slow, useless basterd. I remember his first couple of games at Oakwell, and folk around us in the lower tier of the West Stand cheering as he won loads of headers. As though we'd never had a defender who'd done that before. The fact he spooned every one of them, and didn't get back in position afterwards was lost on them, though. It was already evident to me after the Charlton and Huddersfield games (which we didn't lose) that he was gash. Absolutely **** all positional sense, left gaps you could navigate the Titanic through. Which led to two goals in those games (coupled with **** Sake's inability to clear the ball off the line). I reckon you could look at every game he's played for us and find blatant errors that cost us, or could/should have cost us. Even in games where he did 'okay', he was lucky at times. Ipswich away and Wednesday at home for example. Every opposing forum after he's played for us against them, asks how he's made it as a footballer at this level. That's on one viewing of him. He's gash. He isn't good enough. And I don't mean just right now, I mean full stop. Even in League One. Ask the Oldham supporters how 'good' he was. And like **** Sake and Etuhu, we're stuck with him for another 12 months because nobody is going to touch any of them because they're *****, and being paid the sort of wage that Hassell, Steele and Foster used to be, before Flitcroft implemented 'mates rates' and took from the legends to give to the bellends.
Well I always said we needed a dominant centre back but I assumed he would come with a least ONE foot, seems they kind of agreed but mixed up the words dominant and incompetent!:frown:
wtf are you playing at? Limiting our future fanbase to those who like red. You know we need to be the Yorkshire Tyke Rose Rainbows just to make sure we get the fans who like blue or green in as well Our away kit will obviously be black to attract the goths
No need for the comma before though, 'tis out of place mate. And lol, like a modern day Sheriff of Scabland.
