He underestimated the championship. The people who appointed him were as much at fault as he was. He did not have the experience or know how. He thought he could just bring in mediocre lower league players and take the championship by storm. When the little quality he had in the team was taken away in January we sank like a stone. Even so, had we kept hold of Drinkwater, vaz te and remained injury 3 who knows what would have happened. His second season he just lost the fecking plot

I don't particularly dislike the bloke, and think some fans made far more of his comments and twisted them.

I disliked flicker a hell of a lot more. That bloke I really despise, greatfful for him keeping us up, but dont have to like him.

His downfall was misunderstanding the gulf in class between League One and the Championship, never mind League Two. Added to this the fact the players he brought in weren't exactly the stars at these lower league teams either.

On the flip side it was obvious the money wasn't there to be signing players from the Championship (wages more than transfer fees being the problem). He got somewhat lucky with Vaz Te, Butterfield was at his peak and Drinkwater was and still is one of the best players in the Championship.

Constantly moaning about the finances available is what got me tired of him, we weren't any better or worse off financially than we had been in the past yet we'd done relatively OK.

He was a self obsessed, opinionated arsehole who thought he was Mourinho and Brian Clough rolled into one.

In reality he was Nigel Spackman, Steve Parkin, Glyn Hodges and Simon Davey rolled into one.

Utter w^anker who hated us, and the town, and he will deservedly get dogs abuse if we ever have to suffer his presence again at Oakwell

Hopefully the big headed t.osser thinks its job done and looses the plot like he did he and they drop like a stone.

Failing that I'd go for the sniper on the East stand roof

I'm sure I recall him saying on the radio that he had heard people comparing him to Brian Clough.

If they keep the same position as they are now I will shake his hand - given that I backed them to win the League @25/1 !!!!

I don't have any strong feelings for or against him. He built a decent side that was ripped apart due to reasons beyond his control & was then unable to build a decent side 2nd time round. I wish him all the best but I wouldn't cheer or boo him.

Last time he came here with Rochdale, they knocked Mark Robins' side out of the cup.

    Best manager we never backed.

    End of Fred.
