One worked in a pub while about 2 in the morning then got up at 5 for the bus down to Plymouth, thought I'd get some sleep on the bus, but a man and his about 8 year old son were sat behind me and talked about nothing but football for the first 3 hours. I lived off red bull that day.
Yeovil was about a 0530 start last time. Went to London the Friday before Monday Play Off final. That's quite early.
When I lived in London and came up for the home games the piss head subsection of the London reds would occasionally go straight from a club onto the train sleep free then go out to Gatecrasher that night. Those were the days amazing I'm still alive really.
Dundalk weren't bad! 5am Friday from outside pictures int tarn. Straight thro. 7 hour delay on way back and arrived back in tarn 5pm Saturday. 36 hours!
Many years ago, Gilroyd Supporters Club set off for an away fixture against Plymouth Argyle just before Christmas. Nothing unusual in that, but we set off at midnight Friday! Seven o'clock Saturday morning there we were standing at Plymouth Hoe, freezing our proverbials off, wondering how we were going to kill the next eight hours before kick off. Looking back, why on earth no one said setting off at that time was an utterly stupid idea, goodness only knows. To sum up our day, we lost 2-1 and conceded the winning goal in the last minute.
It wasn't to an away day, but I went on the sport's tour from uni to Lloret De Mar on the coach, 36 hours travel each way. We only went for 5 bloody days too!!
