So I been informed that I am a snorer when I've had a beer,

Also been informed that the bruises on my shin wasn't caused by me falling down but Katie (partner) kicking the hell out of me to stop.

Is it really that bad to sleep with someone who snores ?

On that note, I'm off for couple of beers

Yes he bl00dy well does. Even sticking him in another room doesn't quite get rid of the racket.
We've built a spare room in the loft, but that hasn't helped. Next project is a garden room!

I've just come back from a weeks skiing with a mate in a twin room. At about 2am on the first night I dragged my mattress into the bathroom and slept there with the toilet bowl 6 inches from my head and a bog brush in full view.

I could still hear him with the door shut and earplugs in. I slept in the bathroom all week, luxury.

This sounds bloody stupid , but I used to snore like a stuck pig, got the usual digs in the ribs ,wife getting up some nights to sleep in the spare room etc, any way got desperate and despite severe misgivings bought one of the those anti snoring rings (fit on your little finger) result,? snoring stopped!! odd exception if 'm totally knackered or excessive alcohol involved but otherwise total silence. Apparently they don't work for everybody and you need to follow the instructions but my missus is elated

My wife says I snore but when she hits me I get grumpy and deny all knowledge that I'm snoring which makes her even more pissed off with me.
Strange thing is sometimes I think I can hear myself doing it which can then wake me up.

At home we sleep in different rooms on different floors and I still get told off.

On holiday I always try and pick rooms with a bath......suprisingly comfortable to sleep in are baths, especially when blathered....... just try not to turn the taps on with your foot ;)

According to my wife, not nearly as much since I've lost some weight. I still do, when I've had a beer and I'm laid on my back, but she's found a quick remedy. She used to punch me and kick me and elbow me, but I wouldn't wake up. However, she eventually found that if she just whispered my name, as quiet as mouse, I'd wake instantly, apologise and turn on to my side.

My wife snores too sometimes, when she has a cold, but I never tell her. Why break the romance?

Snoring sounds funny, but believe me it can be serious.
I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea a few months ago due to my snoring (my wife couldnt stand it no more!) and I was tired the next day, every day.
I didn't relise how serious sleepapnea is till the doctor at the hospital told me about it.
I stopped breathing in my sleep constantly and now I have to use a machine to help me breath while asleep through the night.
Sleep apnea can cause heartattacks and strokes and weight gain, I actually had my driving licence took off me till I got my sleep machine.
If you snore a lot, get it checked out.

I've had my machine for about 6 yrs now, I still remember being somewhat sceptical of the Consultant saying I would see an instantanious improvement, first night fell asleep for an hour with it on and thought someone had injected me with amphetamine, only need 5 hours of sleep now and I'm wide awake all the time and no snoring

I'm intrigued. Tell me to **** off if I'm being rude, but what causes sleep apnoea? How did you know you had it? Has it really made such a big difference to your life?

    Hi Jay
My sleepapnea was due to me snoring VERY loudly and I would wake myself up countless times in the night, out of breath, thats when my body stops breathing..
Apnea can be caused by being overweight or in my case had issues with my nose and airways..
My machine is very important to me, i cant do without it.

Like I say, its a very serious condition, I urge anyone who is snoring loudly or constantly tired during the day to see your doctor, like I did..

I'm pleased it's working out for you mate. Thank you for bringing the issue to the attention of this forum. I don't think many of us realised it was much of a problem, I certainly didn't, I guess we thought it's just snoring, but clearly from what you're saying it is.

Since I found out how serious the condition is, I am trying to make people aware of it.
Its one of those conditions that people arnt made aware of a lot and it should be.

Cheers Jay & up the reds :)
