Agree re Lawrence. Hope he can stay fit from now on as he has genuine quality. No better than Perkins I once read on here. Chortle.
We were poor last night but we move on, we have to, we've been good for 3 games before that. We can win our next 2 and everyone will be flicking their dicks again. Let's all just stick with it until it's impossible to stay up.
I trying my best to stay positive. In some ways, nothing has changed. We still probably need to win 4 games and hope results go for us elsewhere. And you're right the first v Brighton in addition to the two away wins have given us hope, let's pray it's not false hope. I just thought we'd turned a corner with regards to selection in those games. I know you can't account for injuries and suspensions but it seemed like back to square one last night. I generally don't like to single out individuals if I can help it but I'm sure that we won't win 4 games with Woods in midfield.
DW made several poor choices last night both with his team selection, and more important, his tactical changes during the game. Duff and Shackell will not have an easier game all season. COG up front alone, he had two big CB who won the majority. Was a similar situation I think against Watford at home. When COG did win a header, he was then too deep or wide, leaving us with nobody in the middle. Why not play a 2nd striker to ease the load off him, making it more difficult for the CB's? The biggest disapointment was the midfield in general. Some would think with Cywka, Mellis and Jennings in the team we would pose some attacking threat, able to create chances and unlock even the toughest of defence. How wrong were we. Off day? Worrying is we didn't create much more on Saturday either. McCourt should have been introduced sooner. By the time he was ready to come on, the ball was in play for about 3-4 mins, leaving him with 10 minutes to make some sort of impact. Only bonus of the night, M'Voto. I'll be first to admit mocked the guy a fair bit but last night he won the majority. His tackles he won fair but also made the man know he had been hit.
I'd agree. But I think it shows how thin we are. The two lads being singled out for criticism wouldn't have been playing unless Kelvin was suspended or Lawrence injured. I don't think they'll be playing Saturday.
I hope he stays. Genuine quality. He started a nice on Sat that inevitably ended in McCloughin being fouled, where he controlled the ball without thinking, knew he didn't have to worry about it and played a lovely ball
Danny's not f.cking stupid is he? He dropped them for a reason and brought them back because he had to.
I will remain hopeful until the mathematics tell me otherwise, because we know this squad is capable of beating anyone if they can be arsed, but I'm looking increasingly at the Charlton game and wondering if that's effectively a winner-takes-all game. If we lose, I think we're gone, win and it might just give us sufficient momentum, and Charlton the willies, to see us clamber to safety.
He might not be stupid, but last night he had options to change it during the game. It was clear the formations / tactics / set-up were not working. Was he worried to go more attacking formation would play into Burnley's hands? Personally don't think it would have, they didn't look anything special.
It's not that we lost but how we lost. If we had a few chances we didn't take fair enough. But even against second in the league there is no excuse for not getting a shot on target all match for the third time in four home games (Leicester? Brighton? Burnley?). I hope someone goes and finds out the last time we didn't score in four consecutive home league games.
I've calmed down a bit from last night. That said zero shots on target all night isn't good enough against ANYBODY.
I agree, it wasn't last nights performance that let us down, it's what's gone off the rest of the season. I didn't expect anything last night, although we do give the ball away far too easily. Stray passes when there is an easy ball on. It's as much frustration about teh other results going against us. We need a miracle to stay up, I can't see more than 1 win coming the rest of the season.
I said that before Reading. And Yeovil. Not over yet - thought folk would have learned that from last season.
Agreed, he inherited a pile of poo, what can he do (like the rhyme!?). I reckon most of the knowledgeable fans must sit in the West Stand Lower! Smashing.
