I can't remember a time when football fans were so sensitive and so easily offended.

Somebody must have. The trouble with some football fans is that they think they can give out insults in the name of banter but the minute a player gives any back they're bairning about it to the plod or complaining to the club.

Not just football now though is it.

Pc worldwide gone crazy. Always someone to get offended about nowt these days. In fact I wager that majority aren't offended they just get on their high horse because they like to look good by complaining and shooting other folk down...

I wouldn't know how to make a homophobic gesture if I wanted to, which I don't. Even after reading the description, I'm not sure what gesture Kazim-Richards made. Can you be homophobic to people who aren't gay? I dunno.

I've no truck with genuine homophobia. I do believe it's as bad as racism. Nasty and hateful stuff should not be tolerated.

However, the only song I've ever heard directed at Brighton fans is "We can see you holding hands". No idea what they get from other supporters, but that's all I've ever heard from Barnsley fans and I didn't even hear that this season. Is that homophobic? I'm not sure it is. It's not suggesting there is anything bad about being gay, it's not hurtful or nasty, it's just suggesting the Brighton supporters are gay. The majority won't be, but if someone says they are, how is that homophobic? If there's nothing wrong with being gay, and let me state this as a fact, there isn't, then how can it be so wrong to suggest someone is gay? Surely, if you take offence at being called gay, then it's you that's homophobic.

    "Jay, you're gay!"
"Erm, I'm not as it goes, but, whatever."

Maybe what Kazim-Richards did is offensive, I don't really understand exactly what that was, but the court case seems a bit much to me. Going after an individual and making out they're gay when they're not in an attempt to belittle them or suggesting there's something wrong with homosexuality if they are shouldn't be tolerated, no one should have to go through that. But when you're doing it to a whole crowd? That's different, I don't know how you can be offended by that.

Yours, a flat cap wearing, whippet racing, pigeon owning, dingle. According to every opposition football fan I've ever heard.

It's a difficult issue and one that has ramifications far beyond the delicate world of football. I guess if you are gay and in that crowd and someone makes what they believe to be a belittling gesture based on what they perceive homosexuality to be than as an individual in that crowd you could be adversely affected and be caused harm under the law. At the same time seems a bit of overkill to me but if the player had been white and made some gestures based around race then I guess I would have seen a prosecution as reasonable so maybe that's just down to where my own prejudices/beliefs lie.

Take your point. Any idea exactly what Kazim-Richards did? If so, can you explain it better than the description in the article? Difficult to make a judgement when I'm not sure what he did.

From what I understand it was pretty much kids in the playground stuff pulling his shorts down and bending over pretending to be err 'loved' as they used to say. Daft more than anything but I guess the bigger point is that he did this meaning it as an insult even if he also meant it as banter. Trying to see both sides of it really.

So Brighton fans moan about a sterotypical bit of banter?

Yet they watch their players cheat, feign injury, abuse officials, waste time......as they did at Oakwell.

They are a fcukin joke that Club. Think they are bigger and better than what they actually are.

By the way, if we get called "dirty northern ba5tards" can we complain and get a court hearing?
