..............article on the back page of the Chronicle (obviously Big Baz has been listening to what I've been saying about this)

With just one slight name change the attractiveness of Barnsley Football Club to football supporters will encompass every part of the TYKES region i.e. the whole of Yorkshire.

So who in their right mind with any business acumen would argue with that name change?

We are NOT the REDS...........there are dozens of clubs called the 'Reds' throughout the country.......e.g. Man U, Liverpool, Forrest.
    But there is only ONE...........TYKES

And to those that are likely to post comments about this subject such as 'not this old chestnut again'.........don't bother.........because its topical, its current......and its on this weeks back page of the Chronicle

Barry Taylor was citing the name tykes as an example not agreeing with you, intact e was saying just wat you are posting against in that if a owner took over BFC he would support him calling us .........The...... Reds.........if he so wished.
But hey you read it how you want to

I agree Nudge. I mean, it's difficult to pull in new fans when you are an unfashionable club teetering above the relegation drop zone but with a simple addition of "Tykes" to our name - hey presto! 40,000 fans each week.

    Here's some more ******* dots for you ................. ................................ ... ... ... ..................................

If we ever change our name to Barnsley Tykes I'm out. Simple as.

I've never referred to us as Tykes nor will I ever. We are Tarn, The Tarn, the reds, the colliers, or BFC.

Tykes is a Yorkshire thing and **** knows where/when/why it was associated with us.

I actually wouldn't agree with any name change, but the Barnsley Red Stars or Red Star Barnsley FC is a better suggestion.

Some bellend on here suggested Barnsley ASOS yesterday. And 50% of the BBS wanted investment that meant a name change. My advice to those who voted for that is to go support some other club.

I'm angry today. Can you tell? I usually wait until around 5pm on a Saturday to get angry, but I thought I'd get it going on nice and early.

    You angry basterd Reds. :)

What about Barnsley St Peter's, that is the original name, or would that alienate atheists and non-Christians or something?

Maybe Bruce Dyer and Bobby Hassell could buy the club and change it to that?

The club chaplain is called Peter as well so it would be appropriate.

Doesn't stop it being a pile of crap though!

I'd prefer that to the 'Tykes'.

But I really don't see any name change helping us at all, unless Dietrich Mateschitz decides to buy us and call us Barnsley Red Bulls.
