Our Scottish Cup Semi Final KO is at 12.45 and on the 7th minute after KO we United fans are to have a 1 minute applause to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Hillsbourgh tragedy. This is not an official thing but something us United fans have chosen to do. I've no idea what if anything The Rangers following will do. Possibly nothing as they will possibly be too preoccupied in singing about the Battle of the Boyne in 1690. Anyway IMO the occasion and the 96 does need to be remembered.
i,m sure the rangers following will join in................they have special guests with them at ibrox...........drummer lee rigbys mum, lynn rigby and stepdad ian.........the huge lee rigby flag from the hillsborough game v wednesday will be on show......................Just out for a walk after an early stack, Not looking for trouble not watching my back, Mothers with prams holding hands with their kids, Not paying attention to the car as it skids, Caught completely off guard not expecting what comes, One man with a knife another with guns. No chance of defence no chance to fight back, Looking for help as the cowards attack, An angel arrives as the light turns to grey, A woman attempts to steer attackers away, My last thought of ‘Thank You’ never strays from my brain, As my body shuts down and I feel no more pain. I look to my left and I look to my right, Thousands of squaddies are all that’s in sight, Uniforms are crisp and their faces are clean, No sign of anger or hate to be seen, As if by command they salute all as one, The RSM smiles, says ‘Welcome home son’. r.i.p the 96.
Powerful stuff viper. I'll certainly look out for the Lee Rigby Banner. Hopefully the Rangers support will join in with our tribute.
hope so ian........and not forgetting the rangers v celtic disaster at ibrox....r.i.p the 66. have a great day ian...............
I always think that unofficial displays of respect by fans have more meaning than the planned ones. BFC fans have done this a couple of times to mark the passing of a fellow red and I personally feel they are a great way to show respect.
Hopefully Rangers fans will respect it. Speaking of Rangers it's been in the Huddersfield Examiner yesterday and today that the might be having a friendly at Huddersfield in the summer. That will be a day to avoid town with them hanging around. Anyway the article today mentions them being 54 times Scottish champions and that next season they will hope to get promotion BACK to the top flight. There was me thinking they are 0 times Scottish champs and never been in the top flight.
Yeah you are right Dreamboy. The Rangers are the least successful team in Glasgow. FACT. BTW We did not have a good game at all but won 3-1. I'll take that any day. Now a Cup Final to look forward to.
Thank You Calgary. I really do want to celebrate here but under the circumstances I do not think it appropriate given today's result. Not looking good at all. But I won't desert BFC. I started supporting BFC when you beat Chelsea and Liverpool in the good days but I'm not going to disown the club. I'm sure we will bounce back at some point. I'm hoping to make the QPR game. Unfortunately it looks as if it will be meaningless.
Thanks Bu66er off glory hunter Well done mate, enjoy yourself....if your second clubs ours it might be your only chance
I did Viper, thanks but the job is only half done. Now St Johnstone (surprisingly) in the final. It still won't be easy but it is winnable. It should be another silver kissing day for us on 17th May.
As I've said on here before, I've followed St Johnstone's results for over 30 years despite never even having been to Perth let alone seeing them play. I just picked them at random when I was a kid as someone to listen out for towards the end of the classified results on Sports Report. So, much as you seem like a jolly nice chap and I enjoy reading your posts (and thank you for your support) I'm afraid I could well be the only poster on here who will be cheering on the opposition on 17th May, albeit from afar. Sorry about that.
No problems from me BR. Really pleased for you that your 2nd team has reached the cup final. Refreshing to read that you follow a Scottish team other than Celtic or Rangers which is usually the case. Will you make the trip to Celtic Park for the game? Getting tickets should not be a problem. Do you know that St Johnstone are at home to Dundee United on Saturday? Cup rehearsal. Anyway mate I'm not a bitter person (usually LOL) so come the 17th let the best team win.
I'd have LOVED to have gone to the final but I'll be in Burgundy for the summer by then (heading down there on Saturday, all being well) and I don't think I could get a pass out for such a round trip authorised by "the committee". But I'm looking forward to watching it and as you say let the best team win. Mrs Burgundy Red is likely to be spending a lot of time in Glasgow next winter and I have a friend in Cupar I keep promising to visit so I'm going to try to break my duck and finally get to McDiarmid Park. I think it's time.
