    Exactly...

£1.50 paid out by the club is probably the equivalent of removing £1,000 a month of the wage budget... So maybe get shut of one of the academy lads instead of giving him a pro contract even though he has shown promise.. All this because of a £1.50 postage charge.. I'd prefer the player thanks..

The difference is you made your purchase on the internet, you weren't available to pick up the ticket up in person, you knew it would have to be posted, so you expected a postage charge. The guy above went to the box office in person, he did so at such an early stage because the club pleaded with fans to do so. He did as they asked, he was there in person, but they didn't have the ticket and they still wanted him to pay for delivery.

It's often been the case that if you renew early they weren't ready - often left it really late to renew because of that. So i didn't expect them to be ready for the early bird offer.

"Why not add £2 to every season ticket discount price" - So, you object to being asked to pay £1.50 for postage but think they should have added £2 to everyones ticket price even if they were happy to go back and pick it up!

I'm not mate. It's not even my gripe. Someone else brought it to the attention of the BBS and was rounded on for doing so. I thought he had a point. Like I said above, I don't think it's a massive deal, but I do think it's poor customer service. Not terrible, it's a little thing, but it niggles and then later down the road another little thing niggles and then another and instead of dealings with the club being a pleasurable experience they end up being a proper pain in the arse. I love my club, I'd like its customers to be satisfied because I believe that results in more people wanting to return.

Any business dealing with as many customers as Barnsley FC on a regular basis will never get it right all the time, there will always be someone dissatisfied, particularly an objectionable bunch like football fans, of which I'm one, but we seem to go out of the way to piss people off.

"Thank you for the £350 Mr Red Rain, we'll send your ticket out to you when it becomes available." Off goes one happy customer already looking forward to the next season, who tells his mates about the good service he received down at Oakwell box office. Good will is worth far more than the price of a second class stamp. And anyway, the postage can be paid for by looking down the back of the sofas in the legends suite after all those who've had too much to drink while wearing slacks have dropped their change.

    Correct.

But if your attitude is that you are doing the public a favour just by being there and allowing them to come on to your premises, then your days are numbered. Football fans, especially new/younger ones aren't a captive audience anymore. Keep pissing the older ones off as well, and then you really are in trouble.

That's the way I see it. And if you're pissing off people like Red Rain, who hasn't had a bad word to say about the club in all the time he's posted on here (he's a staunch defender, even at the worst of times, to the point of annoying a number of people on this forum) then you really are in trouble.

Fair enough I see your point, but the customer still has the option to pick it up if he wants to there's nothing to stop him. We'll have to agree to disagree on this one I think.

To be fair Red Rain's normally so far wide of the mark in trying to show that he's so much more knowledgable than the rest of us that I treat his views with great contempt.

He has a point here though.

It does appear to be a problem that could easily have been avoided. When sending out the renewal form, a line stating when the tickets were to be made available (and giving the supporter the option of either picking the ticket up from the ground, or having it posted on to them) would've clarified any issues. It's basic, bog standard information for your supporter base. No one's asking the club to split an atom, or perform brain surgery.

yep, not rocket science. there are just some things i can't get worked up about. i got mine online, no booking fees and i'll pick it up on the first game of the season. that said, if i'd been ben i'd have been inclined to just give him £2 out my own pocket, just to shut him up.

"there you go mate. £2 here. that should cover your postage. keep the change and enjoy the season"

We'd all better get coppering up then.

I assume we're all waiting until the discount phase has passed before renewing ? Just so the club get more money ?

I dealt with him directly. He's not here to defend himself so not going to bang on about it, suffice to say I fully expected that side of things to improve when he went.

Fair enough, my point was it's fair to say though that all our ills don't fall at Don's door like many believed.

Just read this back and it reads like an Official Site statement that makes no sense.

I think Red Rain has a point myself. It's all about customer service and perception isn't it? Talking about coppering up though I have 250 quid in my pennies jar I might test the patience of the box office staff next week.
