Based on the players CVs I genuinely thought they'd be good uns! Frimpong, played international, premier and champs league football. Grown up playing with fantastic players and the Arsenal way Shea, 2.5 million signing lots of USA international caps. MLS medals, young lad coming to try and make the World Cup squad Woods, seasoned championship pro. A steady Eddie if you like. Good squad addition Prozzy Witch, big multi million pound signing for Hull. Good pedigree, not much game time but scored a few with limited appearances I know DW is getting some stick for these, hindsight and all that. I don't think there's many of us who'd have disagreed initially. Not worked out very well like but I'm sure if looking back on Jan threads there's have been many dissenting voices?!?
I seem to remember everyone thinking all those players were either good additions or in the case of Frimpong an excellent one. Some of the same folk now saying they were all crap and Danny is poor in the transfer market and should be sacked. Hindsight is always 20-20.
Ping Pong: Always had a bad attitude. Not the sort we should have brought in for a relegation fight. Shea: Overhyped. Woods: Injury prone. German Nick: Barely had a start in this country. His record was only in the German 2nd division.
Could be not his signings?!? Bens contacts?!? Just generally bad choices?!? Man management?!? Don't 'fit in' the dressing room?!? Bad attitude?!? Could be a a combination?!? Who knows
I was wrong about some of those players, with the exception of Woods who I didn't particularly rate. Nick has scored 3 in 12 with 8 of those appearances being off the bench. Danny wanted to play 2 upfront but we simply couldn't defend so he switched to 1. He's a goal scorer, he's not going to work like Chris Dagnall. He's struggled due to a lack of service when he has played.
Immaterial now imo we down. Just hope Danny can assemble a team to storm that division next year and take the momentum back into the championship because the longer we languish in that league the more we will deteriorate as a club . Jut feel Danny has missed a trick this time and imo its more to do with sticking to a formula and not trying something different.
The reason I've pinpointed those 4 is that they seem to crop up(rightly so) in numerous threads. If only 2 of the 4 had come off that might have made the difference? Again hindsight.....
No, it goes with months of reading posts by people who say one thing only then to say the reverse. Informed consistent opinions on here are hard to find. Most is reactionary nonsense where people swing from one extreme to the other.
That's the default mindset of most football fans imo. Only a winning team unites opinions But obviously I don't know what's been said by others but my positions been consistent in that Danny wasn't my pick of managers but realised there was very few other options and am behind his appointment but I retain my right to as a fan of 47/48 years to voice my opinion . Especially on a forum, there were fans booing certain players and some the team in general whilst the game was still in play which is disgusting imo and something I would never o
