What you say makes a lot of sense. But as many have pointed out, Wilson has had half a season with players he inherited. Some he brought in are useless, but looked to be good signings. As someone said, hindsight is always 20-20. We could appoint a young manager from the lower leagues, but who is to say he will succeed? My opinion is to stick with Wilson and give him the chance to rebuild the team. He has the experience, and knows League 1. We bring in someone new it might work, but there are no guarantees, just as Wilson can give no guarantees, but I see him as the best option.
Stick with Wilson. Give him time and reasonable resources to rebuild. Another sacking can't be credible. Having said that, any manager will tow whilst the present owner remains.
I love the sentiment that goes together with a team of academy, Barnsley lads, perhaps 5-6 together with your Steele, Hassell, Foster type stalwarts. It'd be my BFC dream. But I'm not confident it will ever successfully happen. We name Digby, RNL and Rose. 2 of which seem incapable of been fit for much more than 1/2 a season tops. The other is relatively untried. Unless we can unearth another 5/6/7 of similar/better ability then it's just not gonna happen.
I respect your opinion and it doesn't matter what any of us think anyway, Wilson will be here next season regardless.
it could happen though if we could hold onto them that is, the fact is though we have to sell them to keep afloat. Butterfield would have got a better fee had he not had that injury. Stones we got a better price, and a fair one IMHO., £3mill. Some will say Stones was let go under priced... but think about it, he had not played that many games really. Yes he showed huge promise/potential. NOW he has been proven at Premiership level he will command a greater fee, I hope the sell on clauses/international clauses some are quoting on here are true.... if so he will have given us a huge financial lifeline for the future. So in a nutshell we will always be a selling club... and we always have been as long as I have been following them... and that's from 1960.
I can see your logic but what if we have a dreadful start to life in League 1. The pressure would be on to change the Manager straight away. The same could be said also if Wilson went now and another Manager was in charge. What would be deemed a reasonable length of time ? A season or 2 Seasons ? I do agree that it would be in the best interests of the club with a change of ownership but this is fraught with danger especially if the Club fell into the wrong hands. Having said that things cannot be much worse than at present.
It's all largely irrelevant as as things stand we are finished at this level so what's the point in getting back up?
Whats the point of carrying on if we cannot aspire to promotion from whatever division we may be in? Our time will come once again but it could be a long time away.
Keith Hill wasn't ambitious. He was negative from day one and unfortunately that attitude has now permeated to the supporters.
Who's gunna buy him? done nowt to put himself in the shop window the last 10 matches. Was atrocious against leeds on setdi, 10 bob piece head, bounced off him at all angles. Think he needs a season in leg 1 to get his act together again mesen.....
Maybee a league one side going up minght gi e him a go he has scored alot for a **** side over course of season a few pens though
