Has my complete support and I really hope there aren't any kneejerk reactions from within the club. I'm sure this wont be the case - why would the hierarchy allow the recent coaching staff changes if they weren't looking long term?

I can understand how he has polarised the support - one up front etc - but I really think he is limited by the lack of quality and basic footballing ability of our squad. Ignoring Shea in particular, I think he has brought in better players overall, but the core of our team have effectively failed under 3 different managers, the first 2 of whom were jointly responsible for recruitment of many of them in the first place.

He needs time, and I'll give him mine, to rebuild the football structure within the whole club. I've no expectation for next season at all, but I think we are in the capable hands of a manager who can put a competitive squad together, including some of the younger players.

Agreed. All I ask is impartiality. Not indefinite impunity, due to what he achieved 18 years ago

    agreed totally

next term he will have the chance to make it totally his own squad, no matter what league we start in. But yes I agree with keeping Danny on, we seriously have no other sensible option in my view....not that I want an option, I want Wilson.

    Agree with OP, as usual.

If we were appointing a 'quick fix' merchant for this season then arguably there were better options available at the time, but we were asking a lot of anyone to fix the mess we were in with the resources and options we had at the time.

Wilson's appointment made sense as someone who would do the 'phase 2' job next season from whichever division we were in. It'd be stupid to bail out on that plan now.

    In Danny we should trust.

Someone fresh with no previous links to the club.
In 1978 Allan Clarke was at the latter end of his playing career. We took a gamble and the rest is history.
A similar appointment would be a gamble but no more than keeping what we have.
We need a completely fresh setup rather than sticking with tired old has beens.

Firstly the likes of Clarke just don't exist anymore due to the perverse nature of money in the game. Secondly the entire club needs sorting out which I won't be holding my breath on. And calling Wilson a tired old has been is frankly, disgraceful. You are entitled to your opinion of course.

Thats what this board is all about and while I may not agree with yours I do respect and value your views.
    Our opinions our just that.
The current powers that be will determine the future of the club I will always support.

If I look at this in a sensible way, I would say:-

    (1) Wilson has failed in the first part of his job, by taking us down
    (2) Wilson should now be given time to put his own stamp on the team (clear out, pre season and then assess after 20-30 games)

Personally speaking, I think the manner in which (1) has developed, he has put himself under more pressure than I expected he would have done.

Lets say for arguments sake that we are going down - July will tell us a lot about where we are as a club. I just hope we don't see contracted players like O'Grady leave to replaced by someone in the sort of Nardiello bracket.

The defence, as it is now, is absolutely fine. In the midfield I'd be happy with a core of Jennings, O'Brien, Lawrence (if he still has the legs/willing to play in L1), Dawson to an extent, Digby breaking in to the team and a few others to provide competition. If Frimpong wants to get his act together and doesn't cost much then I think he's worth a 12 month deal.

Up front O'Grady would get 20 goals in league one if he starts well, Danny Rose is looking like a good option, but we'd also need a couple of more experienced strikers.

F**k the loan system off completely next season as that has been part of the problem this season.
