All season our attacks have been stifled by our full backs refusing to overlap and get to the byline and put a decent ball in. Yesterday was a perfect example with Kennedy time and time again playing the ball then instead of making a run down the line for a 1-2 he goes backwards thus making us easy to defend against. I understand the need to be sound defensively but surely we should be able to be a bit more adventurous with Dawson and Lawrence holding midfield. It's not just Kennedy either we have lacked any real attacking threat down the flanks all season under Wilson and flitcroft.
To be fair mate, you need to have the ability and the pace to be able to do that. We don't have either in our team, to be fair we don't have it anywhere in the team. One thing we need for next season irrespective of division is more pace, more forward thinking players. The thing we have sadly lacked this season, apart from Jennings.
It was the same with ogrady yesterday he was playing as our target man and I can't remember any of our players being withing 25 yards of him all afternoon or gambling on a flick on with a run in behind the last man. Our problem all season I believe has been our inability to take a chance and make a run in behind. We're either frightened to death of being out of position and having to do a bit of running or the confidence is that low after the Rochdale two have gone with their were not good enough to compete at this level attitude we just don't think we can do it. Wilson has got a big job on his hands this summer but if the worst does happen and we go down at least we can get shut of a few and start a fresh with a new outlook and hopefully a winning mentality.
Whilst not wishing to be too hard on Jennings, he definitely needs to add more end product to his game. He also needs to try using his left foot. The 'shot' that turned into a passback against Leeds was embarrassing, and would have earned most of our players a good old slagging on here.
Our wingers don't get to the byline never mind our full backs.We must be very easy to defender against when punting the ball through the middle.
