Working sway from Barnsley among fans of other clubs as it does working in Barnsley with Barnsley people. I work in Leeds with fans of most clubs. Leeds and Wednesday are living it at the min along with Sheff U. Right now it's embarrassing that I've broughty mug home and no longer join in the football banter. I'd love to be back with my own peeps now so you don't feel the shame haha. Thoughts?
I got a bit of stick from an Oldham fan, a Man City fan and a Man Utd fan today but it doesn't sting as much as it does when I get it off my Leeds supporting mate.
Too many smug Leeds fans this morning telling me they sent us down and how s**t we are not even having a chance, then going on to day how bad they are. Then have a Liverpool fan from Dewsbury, Everton fan from Lincoln etc etc revelling in it that were going down Used to be a proud fan but it's just like marrying Rachel Bilson and aftercacfew years turns to Dawn French. At least you can bin her haha.
You want to marry a woman that looks like a young boy with long hair and then you are sad when she turns into a real woman with massive norks............ Blimey. When we got promoted to the premier league I felt like I'd married Dawn French....
I work in a Tarn office full of plastic premiership fans all gloating about our predicament, some of em live local as well. The funniest one though is a Donny fan who's hoping and praying that we go down so they can play at a higher level than us. Never keen on the dee darr thing about crowd size etc, but constant reminders of their 6 and 7000 crowds it's the only thing I've got to hit back with at the moment. Oh and they were the worst away side to play at Oakwell this season. of course they could go down as well. but I doubt it, life's not that good at the moment in the football world.
all Wednesday fans here. my Barnsley mug stays in the kitchen and the Mr Grumpy mug is out. i just don't talk football anymore.
We've got 3 Barnsley fans, 1 Leeds fan, 1 Chelsea fan, 2 Liverpool fans, 1 west brom fan, 1 York City fan, 1 Dortmund fan, 1 rangers fan 2 Wednesday fans, and a shrewsbury fan. Who actually go and support there teams Then 4 man utd, 2 man city, 3 Liverpool 1 Everton 1 arsenal Who never go to watch there team but give the most stick out to them who do when their team loses
very rarely engage in football banter in my office. they're all IT nerds, who 'follow' their PL club of choice. knowledge consists of what they watch on Sky Sports. i did get congratulated yesterday though, for promotion to the PL. they looked confused when i pointed out i wasn't a burnley fan. which was nice.
When as a kid I started work at the steelworks in Stocksbridge, Barnsley were a Fourth Division club, with Wednesday & Rotherham in Division 3 & Sheffield United Division 2. The mickey taking directed towards the Barnsley fans was merciless. You simply had to learn how to deal with it quickly. When circumstances altered (and they will), you then gave it back with interest. But it is only football mickey taking, hardly life affecting issues.
When you have stood in the rain on a miserable Tuesday evening with less than 1000 others watching the reds play Bradford PA then going to the pit and having the piss taken Life seems so rosey contemplating a season in Div 1..............
