    Can't we do both?

There should be know free pass to squad for these players either. They have to show when given the chance that there good enough to play.

Isn't it all about money and how much of the wages a club can pay? Has it occurred to you we can't pay upwards of 10K a week to take one of these rising stars?

That cheek kid at Chelsea is on 30k a week.

That's at a guess in the 10x our average wage region.

The crack with loan players is you've to pay a rental fee then contribute to the wages on a sliding scale depending on age and game time.

It's how both manchester teams operate and I suspect Chelsea as well.

Still you advocated the EPP ******** didn't you..

Thank you. I knew there were quite a few but I just wonder if the OP considers Stoke as meeting his criteria.

Don't see the point of loaning young 'ens off top teams if they aren't any good. We've had more dodgy ones from Man Utd than good ones, they always seem to be overrated simply because of how prestigious their parent club is.

Liverpool seem to be producing good youngsters, a lot breaking into the first team, I'd be keeping an eye on their youth teams if we really want to carry on down the loan route. McLaughlin has looked decent (attacking-wise anyway) and Hammill was obviously a good one a few years back.

    No.

By the way, Steele was at Man United early in his career and won he FA youth cup with them. Would you have wanted to loan him in back then?

It's hardly a recipe for long term success or stability is it? We need to get back to developing our own youth players properly so that we get players in the mould of Eaden, Liddell, Moses etc coming through again. Add to that a decent scouting network to uncover the De Zeeuws and Marcelles and we would have a club to be proud of again.

Hate the number of loan players that we (and most other clubs for that matter) seem to rely on.

Barnsley got Drinkwater from Manchester united and I think getting players in like that wouldn't help.

I do think the EPPP is a good thing DeeTee.

    A few?

Butland, Shea, Delap, Tonge, Arismendi, Shotton, Dickinson. And that's just in the last 4 or so years, I've probably missed one or two as well. We certainly have some sort of deal with Stoke, and the majority of these lads were senior players, not untried young lads.
