be a good game to take my son to watch the reds ? he's nearly 6 now and every Saturday when i am having the family time we have the football on and he cheers and boo's with me for Barnsley (much to mums disappointment as she wants him to be a Pikey) (she is a Donny lass) Anyway, as you know I was at Cannon Hall farm and we drove back past Oakwell and I showed it him, "Daddy, will you take me there, so we can shout together" "Son with a tear in my eye, it will be a pleasure" Proud moment. But is the last game of the Season one to avoid,
Take him, hopefully whatever the outcome he will get the bug and still be going when you and I are long dead. I'm not originally from Barnsley, but my Dad took me to Oakwell when I was 12 and I've been going ever since (45 years and counting!).
Take him, then when he grows up and starts moaning at you for getting him addicted to a ***** team you can always say first game you ever went they got relegated so you knew exactly what you where getting into and you still choose to be a Barnsley fan
will they be a pitch invasion for some random reason ? that's what putting me off, purely as i don't agree with it.
You need to ask? Its your duty to take him and inflict the same mixture of joy and dispair that my Dad condemned me to back in 1971 Id have thought the QPR game is as good as any - its a team with a bit more impressive history than we are likely to be playing at the start of next season
Almost certainly there will be a pitch invasion - for reasons I will never understand I dont agree with it either but that wont stop me going
It's possible, but personally I wouldn't let it dissuade me. If he enjoys the match day experience and fancies going again, any home pre season friendlies would be perfect for the pair of you to really get into the habit.
I'm taking a Polish visitor. His first experience of English football live. Excitement is mounting........
The little **** Great news son, daddy's taking you to your first real game. Daddy that's really good, I'm excited, daddy can I wear my man utd shirt. Son, ask your new family after I've put you up for adoption
We've all been brainwashed, usually by a Father or other relative, into loving our club. So you're simply expanding the scope of the exercise, mate!
This. To be fair we support Barnsley so there will never be a good time to introduce him, it is very likely we will always be **** but this didn't stop our Dads, and their Dads before them from roping us in. Dont worry about the pitch invasion, it happens every season but if we're already down this year there may only be a handful of idiots who want to do it so surely even our stewards will be able to manage the situation this season,.
