Competed every week. That's why we were cut adrift when flicker got sacked. That's how good our squad was. Sour grapes from mellon that. Nothing else.
This! Wilson took more points per game and tightened us up defensively. Honestly believe we'd have been down before March was out under Flicker, at least Wilson took it to the penultimate game. Still wish Wilson had 'gone for it' a little more but I think he felt we didn't have the players for that approach.
He was wrong then. We've won more games and gained more points under Wilson. Flicker and Mellon got too long if owt .
Never wanted the Judas for a start. But the lack of going for it was a massive factor in going down. And everything Hartlepool and Sheff U fans said would happen happened. Really am steaming at Wilson.
We should have gone for it 10 games ago but we didn't, but then we had a lifeline after the Charlton victory, so surely we would go all guns blazing against Leeds. But we didn't. What we endured was a Mind Numbing, Abject, Dire, Negative, Spineless Display which summed up why were in this mess to start with. We had a chink of light at the end of the tunnel which was extinguished at 4.50pm on 19/04/14. It may have been to no avail even if we had gone Positive but frustratingly one will never know.
Hopefully he'll send teams out to win games rather than avoid losing. Very disappointed with Wilson - wish he'd not come back to ruin the memories.
I said today that he was giving the anti Wilson crew a lot of ammunition but hopefully we will see the real Danny Wilson next season. If we don't then I'm not sure how long the good will is going to last.
Correct Old Gimmer, wrong man and a bad choice as what the hell had he done to deserve the job. Weak management at the top of the club.
Who was the alternative? Craig Hignett? Bobby Hassell? Good luck to anyone that thinks we would have been any better off without Danny.
He was the same at Sheffield United. We are seeing the real Wilson. I went to the fans forum in January and all he wanted to talk about was keeping things tight and z points for a clean sheet.
I keep saying it but his hand has been forced by loan signings who are good on paper not giving a sh*t and through injuries. I wasn't old enough to know what was going on last time he was with us, I was 3, but I know the football we've been playing isn't Danny Wilson football. Give him a chance next season, give him your full support and watch us secure a playoff spot.
I'm not anti-Wilson. I hold him in the very highest esteem for what he achieved the last time he was here. This time he has been utterly disappointing and it will take me a long time to forgive the negative tactics and team selections that have cost us our place in the Championship. When you consider the points total that would have meant survival this time around you can only be left with a feeling of if only... And then there's Frimpong ....
We were talking about the negative tactics and formations today and one possible reason for them is that Danny just doesn't think the players are good enough to play in the way he really wanted us to play. When you look at how we played in the first half today (playing 4-4-2) I have some sympathy for this view.
He blew promotion with the blunts. Started with a 1 man team with Ched but as soon as he was sent down they got what we have with Porter a loan front man. Last season he frustrated all blunts with his style of negative play and he was finally forced out.
Like I said the other day, it's context. Moyes was 7th. 52 I think win percentage. That any good? no. Also if the Sheffield united fans are complaining about the style of football after watching warnock and Blackwell then it was bad. It's bad what we've seen since december.,
They weren't when he was at sheffield united. When winnings, been number ones the expectation saying we was 5th or whatevers not good. It's like saying Neil Lennons brilliant if he finished second with Celtic, It's not it would be really bad. You need to get into your head the context of the situation. Saying well he was in the play offs at sheffield united isn't good. When you've got twice the budget of every other club pretty much it's a case of you've got to finish first .
