    How do you quantify being a legend at a football club.?Is it loyalty or ability is it both,or is it something else?For me as a Barnsley fan I would say Tommy Taylor is a legend born and bred here and went on to great things unfortunately cut short by the Munich disaster.Mick McCarthy,great player for Barnsley went on to play and manage in a world cup.What about the 1912 cup winning team all of them legends.Who are your legends and why?

    You have to add Glavin - the most exciting player I have had the privilege of watching in a Barnsley shirt- a Legend is someone who makes fans go misty eyed at the memories even decades after his retirment - you can probably add Redfern and Hignett for the same reason

    I would have come back to Glavin.Legend for me because he is the greatest player I have ever seen wearing the red shirt.

    I would suggest it's someone who has made a major contribution to the club's history. It could be as a member of a successful team, for the quality of performances for the club, for the quantity of performances for the club, for the number of goals scored in a season, for the number of goals scored in his Barnsley career, for scoring an historically important goal or goals, for length of service to the club.

    Had he not blotted his copy book by his actions against the fans the following season, he would still be fondly remembered and considered by some to be a legend. One shudders to think how things may have panned out for our club had he not scored that day.

    'Legend' gets thrown around a lot. There has to be some distinction between a great player and a legend.

    For me, my personal barnsley hero is Neil Redfearn. There can be no doubt that we got the best of his career. He loves Barnsley as much as we love him. His achievements as a player and a captain incredible and all of his achievements centred on us.

    Hignet was a great player, but he was very special at Boro too. I never saw Glavin in the flesh, but I can understand how people feel about him. To me nobody else comes close - in my experience as a fan - to Neil Redfearn. For a short peroid we saw a number of very good, even great players - one legend though.

    Yup. We won 1-0 away at Northampton Town on our way to promotion from Division Four during the 1978/79 season. Derek Bell scored the goal. The game was played at the old County Ground, which Northamptonshire CCC also used. Some of our fans were put on the side of the ground which seemed to be about a mile from the pitch!:D
