Fantastic real ale pub in Sheffield. Went last weekend and the selection of ales, draughts and foreign beers is exceptional. Great pub grub as well. Recommend to anyone if you're looking for somewhere to go this bank hol!
One of the few town centre pubs worth a visit. I always pop round to the Washington round the corner after I've been to the Dev Cat. If you like real ale Kelham Island has a couple if cracking real ale. Pubs. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
One of my favourite pubs, they do very nice burgers as well. I'll be at the Barnsley beer festival on Sunday though
Not been for a while so depends what they have on. Last time was just before Christmas and I had Acorn 11th Noel, I normally don't have Acorn beers there because I can get them easily enough but as that was their Christmas ale so not available for long, and bloody gorgeous, I had to have some while I had the chance! Always like the Abbeydale beers though, particularly Moonshine. The Hop just across the park is worth a visit as well. Pie, mash and mushy peas and a pint of Ossett beer for a fiver! Some great real ale pubs in Sheffield, can do 2 or 3 pub crawls taking in different areas.
Try the Fat Cat And Kelham Island Tavern with food at the Waterside that's a good little run. Looking forward to beer festival at the weekend though.
The Devonshire Cat is everything a city centre pub should be. Big and spacious with a huge bar and good food, and a stunning selection of ales, both on tap and bottled. I wasn't impressed with The Washington last time I was in Sheffield around this time last year. Empty (on a Saturday night), stank of piss, and the only ale on tap was John Smiths iirc! Seemed to be getting by on reputation alone.
I like The Rutland Arms in Sheffield. It's a bit shabby, but there are plenty of real ales, cheap good food, a walled outside area for when it's warm and it's only a couple of minutes to the train station. http://www.rutlandarmspeople.co.uk/w/doku.php?id=start I'll give The Devonshire Cat a go when I'm next there though.
Was in the Rutland last night fantastic place. My head was a bit fuzzy this morning note to self crisps are not food
Agreed. A very good pub... which makes me think, it's only 3 miles up the rd, I should go more often. Last time I was in, I was driving so couldn't drink, but the chap at the bar gave me a take-out. And when I say take-out, I mean a litre plastic bottle, filled with real ale, must be supped that night to enjoy. We did.
Have you been down kelham island? If you like Rutland arms you will really like it down there. Fat cat, kelham island tavern and riverside all very good especially fat cat. Fat cat food tremendous with great bar snacks, proper pork pies etc. Milestone serves very nice more upmarket food too.
Nice place. Handy for gigs at the Leadmill as well. Cracking burrito place just around the corner as well.
