No renewal here, though not for the same reason as Orsenkhat. Changes at work mean I'll miss too many games (probably - won't know for definite until fixtures are released obv.) and most of the guys I used to go with have dropped off over the years. I'll probably pay on the gate and move around the ground rather than limiting myself to the usual area. Each to their own. I think posts regarding renewal, both positive and negative should be welcomed, maybe they will contain information relevant to issues the club can improve on.
Bang on pal.....i will also use the opportunity to re-visit parts of the ground that i have not used for many many years......starting with West Stand fir nostalgia !!!
I've not renewed because for the first time in 20+ years I didn't get one last year, due to redundancy/job change. I'm relying on another **** season so I can buy folks for a tenner a match coz they can't be arsed going. 13-14 was my cheapest ever season watching the Reds! I dare say I'm in a tiny % who could argue they got value for money last season.
You're helping to create a self fulfilling prophesy. It'll be rubbish, we'll never get out, it's Ale house league football etc. But, if you buy a season ticket the club has more funds to spend on better players, coaches, facilities. If you go to the games the crowd is bigger, better atmosphere, the team feeds on the atmosphere, feels loved, plays better.

The fans have been quality home and away yet we still witnessed **** poor performances. If the players arnt bothered to turn up they will not be bothered about the crowd. The definition of the word support is : To bear or to hold up ( a load, mass, structure, part etc): serve as a foundation for.... To sustain or withstand (weight, pressure, strain etc) without giving way ; serve as a prop for.... To undergo or endure, especially with patience or submission; tolerate..... Our club needs our support more than ever due to the lower revenue in Division One ............ lets all be supporters.
Sorry Rosco, but the club's behaviour in recent times doesn't bear this out. My recollection is that we pulled close on 12,000 per game when we came back up from League One. Despite this the team has, if anything been downgraded continually over the last 6-7 years. If you keep giving the club your money can you have any faith at all they will invest it wisely? If Mr Cryne didn't push the boat out to stay in the Championship I can't see how he's going to do so to get back up.

Had this debate before - and it all depends on your outlook. In the early days (Rev Tiverton Preedy, etc) the club was amateur, then semi-pro. It needed "supporting" by enthusiasts paying subscriptions to prop the club up. Even up to the 70's at least, "support" might have been an appropriate way to view the relationship. Now, it's a multi-million pound business, even at Barnsley's level. The under-performers in the present squad are earning thousands per week. For me it has to be a commercial relationship and I expect to get some return by way of enjoyment/entertainment. I'll always be a BFC enthusiast, and will continue to care about scores and the progress of the team. But as for actually attending and paying good money, I'll be a "customer", not a "supporter". And I'll only be a cutomer when I feel I am being offered some measure of value. Here endeth the lesson................. and my presence on here!
