Re: COG remarks in The Stir..

    Im baffled by this thread

Its the Daily Star who we all know like nothing better than to down Barnsley and cause problems

They already decided we are going to lose our better players and wrote an article to prove it
They havent even printed the (undoubtedly loaded ) questions they posed to get the quotes

"But of course I want to play the highest level I can. I want to be looking up rather than looking down."

No **** - if we had a player that said anything else I would be quite worried

This is just the Star being a pain - can you imagine the same slant if it had been the fowls going down - no they would have slanted the article to show how the players wanted to play for a big club and get them promoted again

    - Not saying O Grady wont leave but this article should be used in case of emergencies in the bog as its all its fit for.

He's only scored nine goals this season if you take away his penalties. Not that impressive for someone who's played alot of games. In his time he's played for 11 different clubs which is alot for someone who's only 28, so you'd think he'd stick here and make a name for himself instead of moving on all the time. Guy must love a signing on fee.

Re: Doncaster will be in for him if they stay up

Pretty difficult when nobody backs him up to take the knock downs. He's had to play a lone role with nobody playing anywhere near him, and gets pulled all over by defenders.

    COG remarks in The Stir..

He's right he can be proud of himself, he's constantly given his all but had to put up with shot service from a woeful midfield & terrible full backs.

Let's not forget O'Grady was class last season when he got a lot of the ball to his feet.

He's definitely not a 'dinosaur' as someone has suggested. He's very adaptable but has suffered from garbage service

COG was everything wrong with us under Wilson. Wilsons standard lump up front. Too easy not to play any football with him up on his own. So let him go, players like him are 10 to a penny.

I've heard people say they are convinced Wilson will get chance to build a team with his players.

I'm worried about letting him spend. Started off at Sheff U playing good football, then his signings where long ball kings. And he turned then into a side there fans hated.

O'Grady up front with a pacy striker along side of him would be perfect for league one.Lets try and keep our spine and build around them.O'Grady,Crainie and Steele.

As you probably know Jay I don't miss many games and I can honestly say I don't rate this guy. In my opinion he played very well end of last season and was key to our survival but he's had more bad games by far than good ones this season.

Very anonymous in lots of games, not winning headers, not holding the ball up, drifting onto the wing when he's been the lone striker. I really can't work out what he is because he isn't a target man and isn't in the box enough to be a finisher.

I'm not saying he's not been better than some others in the team but that's cos others have been awful. I hope he gets a move to a, better club but I can't see lots of Championship clubs queuing up for him on this seasons performances and if we keep him we will probably keep playing the "Kennedy chip" down the wing to him which clearly doesn't work

He's not all that. I think he's been distinctly average for months now. If he was as good as he thinks he is maybe he'd have scored a few more when we needed it the most.

Couldn't agree more except add the late season M'Voto to the list too.

I think COG has been the best outfield player we have had this season, and agree with his alleged quote that he has given it his best and can be proud of his efforts this season. He is one of my favourite players of the last decade. In many ways I would love to see him stay as I think he would have a great season in L1, especially if we get the right player alongside him.

But there is a slight worry that him staying would naturally lead us to continuing the 'lump it up to COG' approach rather than building a side capable of playing fast attacking football. So, for that one reason, I could accept him leaving being, whilst not a good thing, at least not a wholly bad thing, if it has to be that way.

But I'd rather he stayed. Probably not our call though.

What I always find funny, is that a team get relegated and you always then end up with a few players making their case known that they are good enough for the level they have just been relegated from.

If they were/are good enough, then why did the team get relegated when they have played so many games and apparently contributed so much?

If COG does move, then it will be to another relegation fighting club.....he ain't consistently good enough.

He may be good enough if he played as a centre forward. Our manager was so negative and told him to play on the wing.

Agreed that DW did not play COG in his optimum position.

Did he though? Can't see Danny saying play up front on your own but make sure you drift out on the wing. It's what ogrady does. The Wednesday fans said the same about him
