I've spent most Friday morning's this season spitting my cereal / coffee out reading his player ratings & have done so again after reading his analysis on our season this year.

Tom Kennedy decent since New Year? Really? I still think we would've stayed up had we kept Golbourne. Kennedy's been shocking almost all of the season. Take out the Wednesday home & away games & a recent home game where he played well he's been consistently ***** all year

Apparently Danny's a fan of Dawson & Lawrence? Again really? I think he just thinks they're the best of a bad bunch. Who does Danny replace them with? Mellis? Woods? Frimpong? I think it's obvious why Danny's playing them & it's not because he's a 'fan'.

Apparently we should've kept Foster, now I'm a big fan of Foster but let's be honest his time at Oakwell came to a natural conclusion, he could only play one game a week last season because of his injury problems & couldn't find a club after leaving Tranmere due to his injury problems, was keeping him really the answer? No chance.

Apparently Cranie & Steele only stayed because no other championship clubs offered them deals last summer. Has he got any proof? Neither of the two's said this in interviews, maybe like Hassell they've had offers but decided to stay just because they didn't want to leave. Not everyone wants to leave us.

His player ratings remind me of the ones you get in the national papers where the reporters clearly not been to the game & everyone gets a 6 or 7.

Anyway rant over, glad I've got that off my chest

The trouble with the Chronicle is they used to more or less have a hot line to the club, for whatever reason the relationship ended (could have been that Keith Lodge was the main link) and ever since the Chron has been trying to keep up the illusion.

There's a lot of folk on here who could do a better job of that back page and be more insightful.

That's another beauty that I forgot to mention!

As if we're going to carry a squad that big in league one

I've no dog in this fight as it were. I don't buy the Chronicle or know Doug O'Kane but thought I would provide some balance.

    1) I'd probably go as far as to say that Kennedy has been 'decent'. Perhaps not since New Year but probably in the last couple of months. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a poor footballer but he's certainly not been our biggest problem of late.

    2) Danny is clearly a fan of Dawson and Lawrence. He signed Lawrence didn't he? Suggest he's a fan. As for Dawson, he's played him consistently and often at the expense of Woods and Frimpong who he also brought in. Suggests he rates them both, to an extent anyway in the context of our average squad.

    3) I would have kept Foster as well. He wouldn't have started but would have been a useful squad in my opinion. Understand you feel differently on this so fair do's.

    3) It's also reasonable to suggest that Cranie and Steele only stayed because they had no other offers. Ok it's speculative but there's grounds with the Steele one at least. All the signals suggest that Flicker wasn't that fussed to see him go, he didn't.....thus probably because there were no interested parties. Don't know about Cranie. I hope he wanted to stay because he likes the club (I still do!) but it wouldn't be unheard of for a player wanting to leave us. All the other good players we've had have wanted to at some point.

Can't comment on his ratings as I don't buy the Chron.

I don't know Doug O'Kane but he comes across quite negative when it comes to BFC.It wouldn't surprise me if he's not from Barnsley as he doesn't display the passion for the reds as previous reporters have had.

I do feel Tom Kennedy has improved a lot under Wilson but there is definitely a fine line between improving and actually being a good player.

I agree with Dawson and Lawrence being the best of a bad bunch. I would like them both to sign contracts for League 1 as i think they will be good in our side but Mellis, Frimpong and Woods haven't been inspirational and haven't provided good competition in midfield. A centre midfielder has to be at the top of the wishlist this summer, if not two. Digby will be quality in League 1 if he stays fit and Woods has experience at that level so we could see him being offered another deal.

We did right letting Foster go. He was a cult hero and a fans favourite but clearly lacked the ability to play at Championship level. Maybe League 1 he can compete but his time at Oakwell has gone in my opinion. I can't see Cranie staying and Ramage will have a number of offers from The Championship. We need to bring in an experienced centre half but Foster isn't the answer.

Steele and Cranie would have had plenty of offers from The Championship and stayed because they wanted to. Steele blatantly wanted to stay from last January and as soon as Mansford came in, he was happy to sign as we were finally showing a little bit of ambition. Cranie wanted to stay because the future were looking bright under Flitcroft but will not continue in League 1. He left Coventry when they went down so will be looking to stay in the second tier but at least we will get a fee for him.

Can't say Kennedy's been any worse than any of the other laikers. O'Grady cost us by 4 points by failing to convert two penalties and a sitter presented by the much maligned, Wiseman contra Derby at home. For effort (albeit no much skill) Dawson, JOB and Perkins ran their socks off for the cause. Steele has been Steele; good shot stopper but on the whole failure to command his 6 yard box , let alone the penalty area, has been a problem. Jennings and our friend from Poland, have been a bit of hot and miss. Mellis has been a non-event all season.

If no-one comes in for Steele, O'Grady and Crainie, I think it will prove the point that the whole side is average at best.

Dos that mean if scene does come n for them that they are world beaters? Just checking. Seriously I can see the point you're making but over the course of the whole season of the regulars Kennedy has never even hinted at any sort of quality. Under Wilson the very basics were done right by him but that's all it as the very basics.

Great article on how town trading is going to suffer from the relegation... Blah blah blah.... Last paragraph.... But if we get a run going it will be better than now!
