Nah well before Prem. It always feels earlier than 95 to be honest.

I'd have said about '95. Definitely before the premier league.

Remember his debut in a 2-0 win v derby on 1995/96. Very immobile but bossed game

Deffo before the PL. '95 seems about right. That 30 yard shot - what a screamer that was.

I am almost positive we did not lose a game while he was with us. If memory serves me right we lost the next game after him leaving 5-0 to Tranmere

i remember him here, he'd obviously stocked up on yorkshire puddings before we loaned him, but what a class act he was even then, hardly left the center circle and everything revolved around him, saw an interview a few years later and said he loved it here

I met him at the airport about a month ago. I opened up with the line 'didn't you used to play for Barnsley?'

At least he found it funny as he said in all his years nobody had ever opened up with that line. He did go on to say that when he was here he thought we had some talented youngsters and it didn't surprise him we got promoted soon after.

Top man and to be honest he's not even that fat!

A Liverpool supporting friend on Facebook posted some pics up from the recent legends game at Anfield, and I commented on the one of a rather rotund Molby saying he doesn't look to have changed much from when he was on loan with us! I checked then on number of games and was surprised it was only 5 as I recall him playing for us quite vividly. Didn't run much but he oozed class with his passing.

Aye it was indeed mid 90's while we building for promotion. That Derby game was unreal, never seen anyone take pi55 white their passing as much as he did that day. The long range passing was landing on a ten bob piece!!!

What an absolute pleasure it was to see him in a Barnsley shirt. I remember after first couple of games opposition started putting two men on him such was his influence.

I often tell people at work he played for us and nobody quite believes it lol

Does anyone remember the South Riding cover with a huge bloke in retro football attire, shorts pulled up to his chest, can't remember exact headline but it had Big Jan..............???? As a homage to the great man
