I was talking to one of the academy coaches last night and we got round to James Bree. The coach said "if you think John Stones is good this lad is even better".The club have already turned down a sizable offer from Man.Utd.
I know it was a nothing game and he came on late but he looked very assured on the ball and the cross for Rose was perfect, I can see where the coach is coming from with that statement, it would be good to see him play more often next season. Let the young uns have run early doors, lets see if they can stake a claim for a regular spot. In his more lucid moments Hemsie did say that there was a few good uns coming through the youth system, give em a chance I say.
I would love for them to be given a chance but unfortunately we will not be able to hang onto them now. We are back to being a selling club..... well did we ever stop ? Its a great thing we are producing quality, but we need to in order to make money, its our only way sadly. I would Have loved to be able to have held onto Butterfield and Stones. Looks Like Rose is coming good , Digby and a few more... but its going to become a big source of revenue for us. Are we becoming the new Crewe I wonder.
there's been a lot of false dawns over the years with our young players but for the last five or six years the academy does seem to be developing viable first team players. Going down will probably give them more opportunities but in the main I still think Wilson will field experienced teams next season with Rose and Digby seeing a bit more action from the bench.
Re: I would love for them to be given a chance If Ben is to be believed, he didn't seem to think we would be too tight for money next season, even with the TV money etc. dropping off. The early bird offer was very successful also, so we'll have a decent amount of money coming in from season tickets still. Hopefully, we can go a season without needing to sell, and if we get promoted we will get the extra money again.
Re: I would love for them to be given a chance Only if exceptional money is offered should dale Jennings be considered for release even if its against his wishes, the club has to come first and it didn't do Suarez any harm.
Re: I would love for them to be given a chance The club turned down just short of half a million once, for Jordan Clark...
