Barnsley hasn't had any Conservative councils so we don't know what they would have done but since they are Conservatives my best guess would be that they would have conserved the original buildings.
The centre left ones that completely ignore the last two terms under the last government. I'm staggered that some appear to absolved of them of blame for the mess this country got in and have wiped their record from the history books.
Are the armed forces classed as working class? If so seem to remember the last labour goverment costing hundreds of young lives over a war for america some oil covered up by weapons of mass destruction and to get rid of a sadam hussain dont think blair would have been so keen to go if it had been his kids on the front line
They all vote the same way when there is a war on the table. Have to look patriotic whilst hanging on Uncle Sam`s coit tails.
Was that a Labour government then? Because in my books it pretty closely resembled a light blue Conservative government, hence the Tory inability to object to pretty much anything that was being done. All of the key decisions that lead to the economic collapse were straightforward right wing decisions to allow the free markets to regulate themselves. I didn't see any significant direct taxation rise. Government continued to lean on indirect taxation - hence the Tory 'stealth tax' slogans. I didn't see renationalisation of any significant public assets - transport, utilities etc etc no increase or rejuvination of public ownership. I could be forgiven for thinking that we haven't had a 'Labour' government for some time. I don't believe for one minute that Tony Blair had any left wing tendencies, any ideology - he was a politician who looked after himself and liked to buddy up with USA. He promised everything to everyone. He had no party loyalty and he knew exactly when to step down. We don't have a genuine Labour party left any more. It's just not there.
I posted few days ago that Tory policy has been implemented since at least Thatcher (1979) if not before the fact that a labour party has been implementing those policies whilst trying to appease the labour voters is imo a sell out The policies that are troubling the country now are Tory orientated
Vote TUSC (Trade Union and Socialist Coalition) only proper left wing party, the right wing media and TV totally ignore them despite them fielding a substantial number of candidates
