Suspect he will be off. Lets see what you're made of Ben and whether there is any substance to this rhetoric. 15 goals (in a poor side)proven championship centre forward under contract. No problems with injuries and an excellent all round player. I expect nothing less than 3m
And that is my point. Continue to undersell and we shall continue to go backwards. Negotiate properly and we will be able to progress. Over to you, Ben.
I think a fair price would be £1m. He's better than Wells but he may have had longer on his contract.
He's on good money, so I think we're keen to get rid. Danny even touted him last weekend. I'd be satisfied with a million or more. Good profit made, and a reight chunk of wages to go back into the pot that we'll be pissing in next season.
Ben Mansford has now got to start delivering, particularly on the areas where we expect him to be strong ie. transfer fees, negotiations, contracts, etc. If we get "undisclosed fee" then we know we've been shafted. If other clubs know we have some transfer cash, so what, it does not mean we are weaker at the negotiation table. I like Ben's style of communication, but I really want to see positive changes that he has influenced.
Yes I heard Ben rabbiting on about how we would be open to offers for our higher paid players. Couldn't quite believe what I was hearing. Haven't we just weakened our position by saying such things, knowing now that we are keen to get him and others off our wage bill?
Agree but not necessarily true about undisclosed fee - clubs state it so that other clubs don't know how much they have to spend.
Players like Hulse, Henderson, Steve Morison and Bechio have all transferred at similar ages for fees well over a million. Charlton signed Andy Gray in his late 20's for £1.5 million and that was off the back of a 14 and then 11 goal season. COG is a player who is still improving and yet to reach his prime. Even when taking into account we're Barnsley we should be getting minimum £1 million. A fair price would be £1.5 million. But can we really expect to receive half of what we allowed a future England captain on a 3 year deal go for? I wouldnt be suprised at 600k.
I would expect us to get around £700k for Jennings, £500k for O'Grady, £300k for Crainie and £250k for Steele. For those prices I would have preferred to keep O'Grady and Steele though.
