Disgusted is an overused word on here.... I personally hopes he stays while thinking it could also potentially be a good bit of business for us...
My guess is that the club would have spoken to most relevant players before the relegation was known and therefore already knew which ones had already decided that they didn't want play in the 3rd division (and had already put their houses up for sale). Hence the comments coming from Ben.
We would sell Pele if someone offered £1 million. There is something about that figure. I don't expect us to hold out for a million for anyone.
COG - 500k (bit more if a few clubs in for him) Jennings - 1m (potential) Cranie - 300k Steele - 300k IMO.
I agree. I really hope Coventry City get the rumoured three million for Wilson. Then when COG is sold the press can ask Ben why a struggling and skint third tier club can sell a striker with an alright scoring record for so much money, yet we can't get anywhere near that amount for someone who's scored a third of our goals.
If you look at some of the fees paid over the years for Championship and League One strikers then you'd have to say anything less than a million would be us getting completely mugged, he should really go for more. People laughed at the time when Flitcroft said he would be a £2m striker, I don't think that's far wrong but owt less than a million and we should hang on to him, I'm sure he'd be professional enough to realise he's under contract and wouldn't get a strop on.
Officially undisclosed, that was just the popular figure given that it's the amount Wednesday paid for him and obviously didn't want the guy despite his good form for us on loan. It's probably about right but just because Wednesday let him go a little on the cheap side it doesn't mean we have to.
If he goes I'm worried about next season. Get nowhere selling players like him. So frustrating been a red at times when even the supporters are talking about fees. Just say NOT FOR SALE!!!!!!
Good point actually, RED. Someone comes in with a £500k offer, just say "Thank you for your offer, however, O'Grady is instrumental to this team and we are therefore unable to accept any offers". He'll easily match his 15 goal next season IMO, possibly more, so we need to keep him. Remember kids, JUST SAY NO.
Doesn't matter if O'Grady wants to go, or even talk to a club - we will have to let him. This isn't the 1980's when players were bonded slaves.
We could just say no though. "Sorry Chris, we consider you a crucial part of this team so we don't want to let you go. We're looking forward to next season with you being our leading goal scorer again".
Dont agree - he voluntarily signed a contract which works 2 ways - we cant get rid of him without paying up the contract he cant just walk away either. Look at how Liverpool handled Suarez when he said he wanted to leave - he is still there and playing with as much commitment as ever. He cant talk to anyone else until next spring when he is coming to the end of his contract unless we give him permission. Obviously if someone comes in and offers the £3Million that Chef Tyke suggests we can let him talk and see if he can agree terms but anything less than £1.5Million we should point to the contract and say not for sale
Hypocrit If he wants to go he will Modern times Player power wins Do I want a non committed plsyer in the team next season ? No.
