I'd rather keep Cwyka because his application is generally much higher and that is a prequisite of success in League One. Mellis has looked disinterested all season and gave the impression of having zero heart. However, they way he tore Rotherham to bits last pre-season suggests what he could do for us in Lge 1 should he apply himself. I just cant see him being bothered enough to play in League One and possibly on reduced terms. Expect him to end up at Blackpool or Wednesday instead.
This isn't me saying I want him retained. I don't. It's me showing a video of some of his highlights. When Stephen Dawson has played another 2 years at Oakwell, I'll still be unable to make a similar video. You don't like Mellis? You don't want him? Fine. But don't make out he's *****. He's young and talented. I wanted him released. But I'm not going to make out he's *****. I think the reason no decision has been made is simple - he's on holiday.
he'll be laid on a beach somewhere, telling his agent to ignore his calls. that's the only reason we've not heard owt
My suspicion when I read that was that he's not bothered about answering his phone, and the club have some kind of rule about speaking to a player personally first.
Or maybe the club have decided they can't be arsed with contacting him. Role reversal. Like he's been all season. Laugh my bolox of if that was the case
I suspect we will offer Mellis a contract in order to trigger a transfer fee from any interested party as he's under 24. If he stayed we have a decent player who we can work on his application which can be coaxed out given he was a major reason we stayed up under Flitcroft ( a period when Dawson was injured and luckily couldn't play). The no heart comments are just daft. He runs back and tries to tackle he's not very good at him. But I'd rather watch him attempt to do that rather than endlessly watch Dawson attempting to control a ball. Mellis lost his way after being buggered about by Flitcroft. Can he get it back for us I do to know.
The lad has got skill and talent......but what makes him ***** is his temperament. There is no point having an abundance of skill if you haven't got the mental application.
The tactical genius that was flicker, played him mainly on the left wing, always looks good when playing in the middle. The fact that he is ten times the played Dawson could only dream of being and yet Barnsley fans are happier to see him get a contract and mellis let go is typical of the attitude of to many fans, they love a triar, even if he shows no visible signs of actually being any good at football.
I used to like Mellis as a player still do in many ways but he's got to go. He's got no interest in us, he's made that clear with his performances, he's not stopped sulking since he got played on the left early in the season. If he's not prepared to give his all for us in the championship then he ain't going to in league one is he? It's a shame as last season we all saw what he was capable of & that version of Mellis is a cracking player
Which begs the question of why the **** is he on holiday before the season ends? Play **** so you dont get in the play offs (i know we were never going to) and be rewarded with a longer holiday.
