    How can we release a player with over 250 appearances in the top 2 divisions, 3 promotions and 15 international caps to his name.

    It's not like he's a Mido either, he looked desperate to help us last season, was one of the few who showed any quality. Other than O'grady, he looks in far better physical shape than the rest of the squad too. With a pre-season under his belt I think his experience and quality would have shone through in league 1.

    Cant see us even getting close to signing a player of that calibre and experience next season.

    He's the one I'd have wanted to keep and considering the way Danny spoke about him and played him whenever he was available in the major games this season I can't see why Danny would want to withdraw a contract offer unless:

    a) he wanted too much money
    b) he'd found someone else
    c) someone else didn't want him

    Danny makes the decisions on footballing matters. He's obviously decided he didn't want him. Possibly due to him demanding a relatively high wage. Not much doubting it was Dannys decision though.

    Hopefully he wont be playing for one of our rivals next season.

    He knows the budget he's got. Probably thinks the wages on Lawrence would be better spent elsewhere.

    This could be the problem...Mansford stuck his nose in last summer when Flitcroft wanted to release Hass and Steele. It probably caused dressing room hostility, negating the good feel mentality we'd built up from beating the drop...

    The whole Barnsley saga rolls on. All undercover with twists and turns. It strikes me that the club has no fukcng idea as to what it is doing, who are the best players and who to keep. Roll on Danny boy, all will be revealed this next season. Hope you have done your sums

    Flitcroft was barking mad so I can understand a bit of guidance / intervention being required but if I was Danny and somebody interfered in this way I'd be walking away.

    Apparently he'd already discussed with Lawrence that he would have to have a wage cut, and Lawerence agreed as he said he felt guilty about us going down and wanted to atone for it next season. I'm not sure what went wrong.
