I still had it open. Wonder why it's been removed. Sky have also reported it but I guess the sky source was the Telegraph journo

Apparently Lampard, Jones and Smalling all in too. Carrick misses out.

Think he'll walk into the 30. Wrongly miss out on the 23 to Smalling/Jones though.

And buried in that Telegraph piece is the news that Man Utd allegedly bid £27 million for Luke Shaw after they played Southampton this afternoon!!!

    £27m > £3m

Shame. At this moment in time Cole's significantly better than Shaw.

I agree we should go with youth but only when they're up to it e.g Stones over Smalling & Henderson over Lampard

The young players can't be any less up for it than the players who have let us down so consistently for the last ten years or so.

Bit harsh on Cole that - I dont like the guy but he has been one of our more consistant performers in recent world cups

Its a tricky one - Baines will obviously be first choice but Cole would have been a safe pair of feet as a backup so I wouldnt have complained if he had been taken - Now the backup is young and inexperienced - may work out well or he may not even get a kick - probably one of Roys more difficult decisions to make

For someone who is consistently called a lovely person, I thought Cole reacted to that very well. I don't see the point, at his age and with as many caps as he has, to keep training on the off chance he will be called up. If he's not going to the world cup, best thing he can do to prolong his club career is rest before he prepares for next season. Standing aside and allowing the younger players to take over is the right thing to do. He must be disappointed, but he's taken it with very good grace.

For what it's worth, I thought he was an excellent player for England. The game we lost on Penalties to Portugal and he marked Ronaldo, probably the best defensive performance from a left back I've seen.
