Aye, that team'll get the Italians & Uruguayans quaking in their boots. Can't see England getting past the group stage tbh.
Maybe, but that doesn't make it a good team for the WC though does it? Very inexperienced and won't get a sniff against the Italian & Uruguay defences, both of which are solid & very physical.
Be no different to the last world cup then, when we barely got a sniff against USA, Slovenia and Algeria. If we go into the games versus Uruguay and Italy playing like the underdogs we will lose. That front 4 is talented enough to trouble any defence in my opinion. All quick and very skillful. All can shoot from range and all in outstanding form. A much better option than the big man alongside Rooney which is what we normally get, and it never works.
I'll have to take your word for that as I haven't seen any PL games for a while now. All over-rated, over paid prima donna's imho. When up against other countries they (note the non use of the word we) always get found out. I think they must get home sick or get scared of losing or something as they never do themselves justice. Ahhhh, who am I kidding they're just crap!
Thats not the case this time around. I'm not saying we will perform any better than previous years. But 8 of that starting 11 have never played at the world cup before. We have some very very talented young players in the squad this year, all with great attitudes and eager to impress. All blessed with flair and technical ability. They may flop, but I'm feeling a lot more optimistic now we've got rid of the likes of Carrick, Barry, Parker, Young and Carroll who are all limited and very average footballers.
Fully expect it to be the following; .......................................Hart............................................ Johnson...............Jagielka..............Cahill................Baines ......................................Gerrard......................................... ................Henderson.........................Sterling................................ Welbeck......................Rooney................................Sturridge....... Possibly inclusion of Fat Frank for Welbeck or Sterling against Italy. But Roy does like pace.
Ahhhh, the smell of optimism. I must say, you've got plenty of it. You'll only be let down hard when they under perform - for whatever reason it is, they always under perform. At least I know they won't win it, so I won't be let down half as much as what you're going to be.
When have I ever said I think we'll win the World Cup? You've even said yourself you haven't seen any Premier League games for a while. How can you give a decent opinion on players you haven't watched? Whatever England do it wont be half as disappointing as it has been watching Barnsley this season. I'm immune to any further football related disappointment until next season at least.
They let in 25 goals in 16 qualifiers, I think that counts as being poor. Their captain and CB has struggled to get in WBAs team. They may improve at the tourny but right now they are far from 'solid'.
Yes, I was wondering when you'd bring that up. Well it's because I've seen England "play" at WC's before, and for whatever reason it is they under-perform. Whether it's home sickness or something I don't know, but the only WC they've won is in our own country. Also, Yes you're right you didn't say they would win the WC, I'm sorry about that, but you're still getting all excited about certain players playing. I don't have to have seen them play to know what they're going to or not going to do. Call it age, call it experience whatever. They will under perform. I'm trying to let you down gently before you get all excited about watching England play in the WC.
Yes I know they did, but look at the class of team they play against. Nine or Ten South American teams, any of which could qualify for the WC on their day. Who did England qualify against?
There's no reason to let me down gently. I've seen England in enough tournaments to know we consistently, bottle it, flop and under perform. But there's no reason why on their day this group of players cant go out and beat teams like Italy/Uruguay.
The problem (like us this season), is not disappointment for the blind optimist, but hope for the pessimist. Most people have already written off our chances, but a couple of good wins in the group games and the entire country will suddenly be optimistic. Thats when they will let us down (again).
