The Mellis one is clearly a move to protect a potential transfer fee, I believe the terms you offer have to be the same or better than what they were on previously. If no-one wants him then it could turn out to be a bit of a gamble - is he going to be up for games at grounds where the nearby houses are taller than the stands and is he going to feel that a move back to the Championship has effectively been blocked because teams might not want to pay a fee for him. We see it all the time where players leave us and go backwards in their career, I think he'll be one (when he does eventually go) who will move forward.
Exactly.. Sounds like a good idea from Ben but it could backfire on us big time. The wages we could potentially be paying him could probably get 3 decent league 1 players. If no other club wants to pay any money for him then he will stay with us for another year. And he clearly doesn't want to be here. So the next few weeks will be interesting
Plus (I'm guessing) if we only offer him one year then that would probably be taken into account by a tribunal so not sure if it's really worth the risk. If he wants to get his head down though and get back to how he has done in the past then I'd welcome him staying.
He's a complete waste of space but if we're to get any compensation then we need to offer him a new contract even if the contract is just 'a means to an end'.
I think the previous financial amounts in his contract are the minimum we can offer him, in order to receive compensation.
Absolutely disgusted to hear this news. He couldn't give a **** this season when we needed him to show any sort of battling spirit the most. I've never rated him as a player anyway but this has really ****ed me off. Hopefully someone comes in and persuades him to join them because League 1 is a league you need a bit of spirit in and he has got a heart the size of a pea.
Yes we have to offer him a comparable deal but I wouldn't imagine him to be a high earner. Although last season he was poor the season before he was instrumental in keeping us up. We just need to channel that player again. At least he has the potential to improve unlike some of our players... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I'd have tried to find the extra brass to offer a new deal to Lawrence rather than one to hewhocannotbenamed. Still a shitty way to inform him by voice mail though, but this is BFC we are talking about.
Having renewed early I'm fast starting to worry about this season. If this type of deal sets the tone for recruitment then my faith in Wilson in transfer market is currently around 50% and falling Prove me wrong Danny boy
Have you only read the first post then replied to that? The reasoning behind it has been explained about fifty times.
