If Jones don't recover Roy has said Stones will be his replacement.

Needs a few robust challenges on Jones in the training games when he is trying to prove his fitness then - Though Jones is a lot better than Smalling any chance someone could assist him down some stairs?

The Smalling call up is baffling - there must be a flow chart for selection. Does player play for Man Utd's first team > Is he English > Add to squad

Is it wrong to pray for a young player to be injured just so another player gets his place? I'd love it if Stones went to Brazil.

And to think that we were all trying not to get too carried away with how good he was when he first broke into our team! And then there were those who said it would have been better for his development to stay at Oakwell for another year...

    Guilty.

Basically just selfish, wanted to watch him in a Reds shirt for as long as possible...

Its great to see him do well. Just a crying shame that we put 10 years development into him and he played what less than 30 first team games.

The 3 million sounds a lot less of a good deal at 300k per year. But for every john stones there are 100 dudds i guess.

Its a very similar situation to david hirst innit although he was just before my time at barnsley. Dont think he played that many games before he was whisked away.

At the end of the day im mega gutted hes gone but will follow his progress throughout his career. Im just glad i got to see him play for us.

The speed he could bring the ball forward and the ground he could cover was phenomenal. Vision, control, speed. The lot. And that bit of skill he pulled off to keep the ball in summed him up.

    Quality.

Good luck John! Fingers crossed you make the world cup. If you dont you are nailed on for the euros. Always a red! :)

I want all the success possible for him, having a tarn lad at the WC would be unreal. Was a reyt player here and proving it in the Prem.

It is a bit disappointing though that we can put 10 year's work into him and only get to see him play first team football for less than 30 matches. Guess that's just another part of 'modern football' though.

Sounds like Jones will be fit.
