I'll start ball rolling, bearing in mind Keef was at club a lot longer than other two so obviously he would have a few more left. These are players that for the most part played in our relegation. I've used players who played at least 4 or 5 games minimum. Keef = TK, Crains, Wiseman, Dawson, Daggers, Perks, Cywka, Golbourne, Ethuhooo . Anymore???? Flicker = Big jean, Rambo, COG, Tangs, Jenno, Peds, Scotland, McCourt, Fox, Butland Wilson = Lawrence, Woods, Frimpong, Proschwich, McLaughlin, Hunt, Shea Before all the aboves time = JOB, Mellis, Steele, RNL,

I agree. Also Keith Hill is not no blame for the relegation this season, no matter who signed who, from where and when. KEITH HILL HAS LEFT BARNSLEY F.C. LET IT GO FFS!
If Nyantanga, Dawson, Jennings, Cywka and M'Voto are regulars next season, play well and help us to promotion then I think Hill and Flitcroft can take a bit of credit from bringing them to the club, yes. Definitely. Neither manager will be the single biggest factor, but I'm not suggesting Hill is the single biggest factor in our relegation this season. O'Brien was a Robins signing. No. We've shifted the majority of their signings out. The squad is no longer dominated by players from the past like it was this season. This season Wilson had to work with what was left over from the last couple of managers, next season the squad will be more or less his. There'll be some left over, but by and large those will be players he wants to keep. We're entering a new era. Because we have released so many players, Wilson pretty much takes the blame or the credit for whatever happens next season (along with the board, they're a team, it's not just the manager). The Hill/Flitcroft influence is just about over on the team as a whole, they certainly cannot be blamed for whatever happens from here on in, but if we sell one of their signings for a lot of money or they perform particularly well, we can certainly acknowledge who signed them and give them credit for that. O'Grady will always be a Flitcroft signing. If we get £2 million for him or he scores 25 goals, Flitcroft deserves credit for bringing him to the club. But there are so few of his and Hill's signings left that their legacy is no longer a major influence on the squad. Hill particularly, it'll just be Dawson and Cywka (if they sign) and Wilson has chosen to keep them. I'm not being too literal, Keith's influence was all over this season's squad. There's simply no denying that. It no longer will be, it's a new start. And that really is my last word on this. I've said enough.
Ayup, whitey has got his big shitty Keith spoon out to stir his big shitty Keith pot again. Dont bother responding whitey, I know you'll crack on you dont know what I'm talking about... Oreight
I find it depressing that Keith Hill is blamed for our relegation, just as I find it depressing that Flitcroft and Wilson have also been blamed in certain quarters. Mark Robins packed his bags and left the club rather than stay to fight the thankless and ultimately futile fight that was keeping Barnsley FC in the second tier with the reduced budget that was on offer. There is no evidence that any manager could have kept the club in that division for ever and two other experienced managers who were approached after Hill's sacking also saw the futility of trying. The problem with fans is that when things go wrong, it is always someone's fault. The minutiae have to be analysed and blame apportioned. It is never an inevitable consequence, a result of circumstances beyond the manager's control, a result predicted by professionals within the game and foretold by 7 previous years of struggle. The bigger picture is the one that tells the true story, unclouded by individual players, individual events and individual results. That bigger picture is of a football club that had the life strangled out of it because of an inadequate budget, in spite of the efforts of three managers who gave their all, and who are generally despised in spite of it.
Hill is a good manager and I think time will show that. In my opinion we should have kept him and gone down with him (as we have eventually done anyway). He would have been more financially happy developing the squad in League One and would not have had as much pressure on him. The budget would have been more manageable in League One. He would have had the team playing 'football' as he sometimes did at Oakwell. He is a loss in my opinion. Let's see how 'little' Rochdale do next season.... Banzai
Our relegation is mainly down to David Flitcroft. He got the funds to build his own squad & ****ed it up. Read the following & tell me I'm wrong: Gave contracts to McNulty & Cofie & barely played either Signed M'Voto, Nyatanga & gave a contract extension to Hassell. He then played M'Voto continuously for the first couple of months of the season despite him been guilty of many individual errors. He claimed both Hassell & Nyatanga were injured during this period which later turned out to be lies. He eventually signed Ramage on loan & continued to ignore Bobby & Nyatanga. He gave a contract extension to Scotland who couldn't play 90 minutes & signed an injury prone striker in Pederson leaving us with only 2 strikers in O'Grady & Dagnall who could play 90 mins. He then decided Dagnall wasn't good enough & farmed him out on loan & replaced him with Tudgay (another bloody loan despite him saying in the summer that he wasn't going to go down this route). He dropped Steele for a 42 year old friend who'd played a handful of games in the past 5 years which didn't improve things one bit. He sold our best left back this century (IMO), Golbourne & didn't replace him meaning our only left back was Tom Kennedy who he gave a new 2 year deal to. He loaned Andrai Jones out & refused to play Hassell meaning a badly out of form Wiseman was our only right back. We played 3-5-2 against Huddersfield in possibly our best home performance of the season in a game where we bet an in form team & RNL had a great game for us. He them said it was time for RNL to have a run of 30 games. After this game RNL didn't play again under Flicker & was loaned to Scunny, we then proceeded to play 4-4-2 for the next month or two with our wingers been Dawson & Mellis, neither were suited to playing wide & we didn't win a game during this period. During this time Cwyka, O'Brien, RNL & McCourt were all fit (bear in mind he gave contracts to Cwyka & McCourt). Flitcroft made a balls of things all on his own, let's not pretend Keith Hill caused any of the above or that Danny Wilson had an easy job turning things round. I loved Flitcroft & won't forget Huddersfield away in a hurry but his problems were all his own doing. He was heavily backed & made a mess of it.
Everyone remember the Ronnie Moore song? Just replace Ronnie Moore with Keith Hill.......thats all I have to say on the matter.
Pretty much agree with all that. Its took 90 threads on the subject and thousands of words but you've summed it up perfectly (in my opinion) in a couple of paragraphs.
Spot on. I do believe that Danny Wilson could have done a much better job than he did. But you've summarised Flickers mistakes almost perfectly. Mistakes which were made without any contribution or input from Keith Hill. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
Other than signing half of the team and bringing Flitcroft into the club of course I out you as keef constantly avoiding responsibility and trying to defend the indefensible. Of coursw in terms of pur relegation Hill played a minor role in the big scheme of things as most of the blame lies with the inexperienced Flitcroft.
I read an article on Keith. He was clearly suggesting - in that article - that he was a fall guy at Oakwell, had no power/control etc. I then shared it here as I thought it would make for good debate. Three pages later, I'd say it must have done. **** stirring? No. Stirring debate, on a football forum? Yes. Allreight?
