Yep. Had one for a few months now and they are the dogs b0ll0cks. Get everything on them, 1000's films, box sets sport all for a one off fee. Make sure your broadband is 20mb or more as they seem to struggle with less.

I have just cancelled my whole sky movies and sports with Virgin and upgraded my broadband to 100mb and still saving £70 a month.

When I get home I'll post the link to the one I got as the customer service is 2nd to none. Any problems drop them an email or call and they sort it

This is the one I have. No subscription fees whatsoever free tv.

There is even all of the sky movie channels in HD if you know where to look.

With anything like this, there are some illegal streaming sites but the majority are legal and all high quality streaming

But you really need a good broadband connection or your films will be forever buffering

Just to be very clear. Streaming films from a file share site and sky sports without a subscription is VERY illegal....but it's possible to do. Purely for educational purposes

Card sharing is the best. Full sky tv via satellite, no streaming for about £40 quid a year + Box. May be coming to an end now though, sky are changing their encryption system.

Also very illegal I may add :)

The XBMC software is free to download and will run on a windows pc, android tablets and phones. So you could try it out and see how it works with your line speed is. I run a version on my galaxy s2 phone which I connect to an hdmi tv to watch when I'm on holiday e.g. watched the Forest home game while in Portugal.

I've had two since march and my broadband speed barely gets above 4mb and they both work fine, plus as Macduff says if you want to try before you buy download xbmc to a windows PC then add mash up and xbmc wizard, there are videos on YouTube that show you how to do this,it's a piece of piss and only takes 10 minutes.

There's all sorts of confusion in this thread.

An android TV box is a computer running the android operating system. Loads of you will be familiar with android on your phones and tablets. Well, that's what it is, but on your TV. So, instead of looking at all your stuff on the little screen of your phone/tablet, it's on your great big living room TV. In it's simplest form it's exactly that, your TV screen will look your tablet when it has loaded up. Some have their own user interface. Any app that you've downloaded on to your phone/tablet you can download on to your TV box. Angry birds, BBC i-player, sky sports result centre, anything, you can have it on your TV. The apps that are of most interest are the ones playing TV shows, that's why you want it on your telly. With the use of wireless dongles you can control your android TV box with a traditional mouse and keyboard or a remote control or an air mouse or whatever.

XBMC is an app. It plays TV shows. Like others have said, it's also compatible with windows. Have a play with it on your computer:
    http://xbmc.org/

Roku, and a number of other such devices, aren't really android boxes. They're more like the interface you get with a Smart TV/Blu Ray player (but with more content). They access streaming media. They're easier to use, more stable, but lack the flexibility.

There are more issues with Android boxes than you can shake a stick at. For a start, they're not made by Samsung or HTC, they're made in the back of warehouses in china using the cheapest components available. They don't really work straight out of the box, point and press and you're away. They require you to know what you're doing a bit. This isn't technology overseen by someone like Apple, where it all works perfectly, designed and built from the ground up. This is open source, it's constantly evolving, its agenda is set by hobbyists. The things stop working, apps crash, stuff goes wrong. But they can be bloody cheap and very good.

There are boxes and there are sticks. The difference? One is shaped like a box one is shaped like a stick. The box probably has more 'oils that you can stick stuff in and it might be better and newer technology, but not necessarily. One thing is true, if you buy one today, it'll be obsolete tomorrow.

Put Android TV Stick/Box in to Amazon or ebay and see what you come up with. Look on the forums, there are a million out there.
