    I've been sworn to secrecy on revealing the name but I'll reveal the initials and won't confirm the correct identity until its revealed officially. It's JD. We'll see how good my source is in due course.

    Localish lad, late teens maybe now 20. Plays non league. Midfielder. Watched by DW last season. Told would be offered a contract if we went down. Or trial/U21 if we stayed up.

    It never bothers me which club we sign a player from. So what if he's from non league? He might be the next Charlie Austin, Jamie Vardy, Darren Sheridan or Martin Bullock for all anyone knows. In the past few years we've had as much garbage from the Premier League clubs as anywhere else eg. Garry O'Connor, Diego Arismendi, Nile Ranger, Korey Smith, Michael Tonge, Dave Cotterill, David Button, Toni Silva, Ben Alnwick, Mike Pollitt, David Fox, Brek Shea, Emmanuel Frimpong.

    If we're not prepared to try, we'll never find out. It was Wilson who discovered Charlie Austin and gave him his opportunity, so I'll back his judgement on such players. I'll also keep an open mind & judge him on his performances for Barnsley, rather than write him off before he's had an opportunity to show what he can do.

    Wilson has a decent track record with lower league signings. Plenty names mentioned. Matty Appleby was class. Were Darlington in the bottom tier when we signed him? Ritchie did well too - Howard, Hayes were good footballers. They are out there if you look carefully.
