Im glad I didnt step foot out of my door in rain to tick a box it wouldnt have matterd who I would of voted for where I live labour stronghold

 

I don't understand how people can say there's nobody to vote for in the EU elections - there must be at least a dozen different parties on the ballot paper covering the entire political spectrum.

 

unfortunately there will be imo at least 70% of voters not turned out tonight maybe more and the ironic thing about that is they will be saying they wouldn't have made a difference

To be honest it was two reasons I didnt vote one was who? And second was been at work all day not off out in rain for that!

Dont know if ill even vote in genrals as I want referendum on europe and immigration sorting but not voting ukip as they are dangerous but use the immigration card to drum up votes and rest are just a no

Voting NO, which I presume means spoiling your paper won't prevent the aforementioned cnuts getting power. In fact it makes it more likely...

 

If you ask why people dont vote, its not only an apathy about the self serving parties populated by middle class buffoons and crooks, its also an apathy about the voting system.

The belief in large parts of the country is that the same party will get voted in their area regardless, so to vote for anyone else would be futile.

Until you find a system that can get over that belief, the vote in this country will continue to decline in ever decreasing circles.

 

European elections are proportional representation.

Oh and Green for European, Socialist Labour for local.

To make a real difference you have to join the political Party of your choice and try and change it from within. The Labour Party was stolen from the Working Class by Blair and it needs dragging back to its Socialist roots.

 

I was thinking about this earlier as I walked straight past the polling office on my way home.

My argument is exactly the reverse - those who voted for the Lib Dems last GE, for example, can't complain about what they do now they're in power - they lent them their support. When I voted Labour many years ago, I felt partially responsible for the decisions that they made, and that made it difficult to criticise them too much. Parties always go back on their promises once they're in - they'll tell you anything and then turn round and do whatever they want once they get elected. Everybody knows that this happens - it's happened every election since I've been following politics - so more fool you for voting for them. I was the one that ended up feeling like an idiot, just as my Lib Dem voting friends do now.

Luckily, I don't want any of the parties standing for election here to be in power, so "things going my way" simply isn't possible, whether or not I vote. I refuse to vote for one bunch of lying tossers over another simply because they present themselves as the least worst option. Better that than allowing them to crow about how they've got the support of people like me.

Then why didnt you vote for the Green party? Or did you not even bother to try and find out anyones policies ?
All the info is out there on the internet, you would not even heve needed to get wet , until the time to go and use you vote to try and make a change !
The only way to change things is to get out there and make your views heard. if you cant be bothered to vote, then you either like this Government/council/EU set up , or you you are lazy and want everyone else to do the changing for you ! Every change has to be worked for, nothing is given without people working to make the change.

 

You don't vote, you don't get the right to complain when those who get in to power bring something in that you dislike. Simple as that.

The best thing they could do in this country is make voting compulsory with the option of none of these tossers on every ballot paper. I worked at the elections yesterday in Sheffield turn out pretty good comparatively speaking split between those who believe the UKIP myths and those wanting to keep them out.

I understand people feeling apathetic by party politics. What I don't understand is people not taking an opportunity to tell those parties they don't represent them anymore. Even if the person you vote for doesn't get in, there'll be analysts up and down the country scouring over ever ward/parliamentary seat to see voting habits to design policies.

Why do you think there's an EU referrendum on offer by the Tories? Because of UKIP. Why have Labour now said they'll work to cut the deficit and reduce spending? Because it votes well.

If the Green party get a big swing, the main parties will start to nick their politics. Not identifying with any is, in my opinion, no excuse.

 

I couldn't agree more, but also as you vote for the individual and not the party all party affilliations should be removed from the ballot paper and campaign material. That way the feckers would actually have to let you know what they stood for rather than relying on some banal logo to get them in.
