If we let him go for that little then I'll be doing some head banging against a wall. He splits opinion on here I know and is far from a perfect player, but someone who scored 15 goals in a poor, relegated Championship team can surely command more than £500k? How much did Peterborough get for Dwight Gayle, who scored about the same? Surely somebody would be willing to pay more than half a million for him? Otherwise keep him.

What was the Einstein phrase used in that club statement a few years ago, something about the definition of insanity? Let's hope we really have changed and the fee in this article is inaccurate.

 

No way on this earth, have we sold our top scorer and key asset for 500k. There'd be no sense in that.

I understand we have agreed a deal to secure the services of Gareth Bale from Real Madrid for £26.87p. I also understand that we are meeting him to agree personal terms on one of the smaller moons of Jupiter - which I understand is his favourite place.

It may well be true, it may not be.

Its reputation down here is a shonky one.

He could do better than Charlton.

 

It's pretty clear via twitter that we've accepted a Charlton offer. The fee? Who knows, but you'd have to be a moron on drugs to sell him for 500k. He's under contract, cost us 350k, we've paid him for the last 10 months (around 6k a week?) so that's another 250k there. He's scored 21 goals for us in just over 50 appearances. We're in the month of May, the season starts in August. The only way you'd accept a fee for him now would be if the fee was incredible or the club was in serious financial trouble and needed a quick injection of cash. On the latter, it makes you wonder doesn't it, what with the begging letters for season tickets in April whilst last season was still draining down the pan...


If the story is accurate, then COG has to agree to it himself yet. But if he does leave for such an abysmal fee, then I predict a **** storm of epic proportions on here and a cloud of negativity and gloom to enevelope the club IN ******* MAY!

I heard earlier that #millwall had gone cold on O'Grady because of the fee and wages involved. Charlton jumped in with offer 45mins ago.

#cafc have agreed a £500,000 fee for Barnsley striker Chris O'Grady - he is/was on #millwall's shortlist. That price seems v. steep though.

 

They are very pro Charlton though. It's an independently family that owns it and they have a tendency to up Charlton while knocking Millwall.
