Thus will benefit only Farage and his rich mates given the exemptions already in place so not exactly a vote winner.

    Other UKIP policies here...

After ukips policies have been scrutinised and exposed they will be left with the loonies they started with.Nudgers got a bit of money on the backs of trade unionist fighting and giving him a platform to earn good money without a top education and is now denying the next generation the chance of doing the same.
He will try and say he did it all by himself but no he didn't he was given a platform by the struggles of previous generations. And this is how he repays them.

Nudger is obviously in line to inherit more than most of us.

All I can see is that the wealthy (an increasingly dwindling percentage of the population) will benefit most, and the richer you are, the more you will benefit. Great another blow for social inequality.

In return, the cost of this gift to the wealthy can be placed upon the burden of the working poor. Great bloke that Farage.

    Re: £325,000???

Most estates qualify for the £650,000. More if you include the fact that you can net off you earnings / pension for the 7 years prior to death.

As I read it, and I might be wrong - you can effectively "leave in your will" your £325,000 allowance to your wife, so that when she dies, your kids can inherit your £325,000 and your wifes. Bascially this change got rid of the awkward situation where you had to leave half your house to your kids, then your wife left the other half when she died. This was seen as a tax dodge when in reality for most of us it seems like common sense that you should be able to leave your house to your kids.

Personally I'd like to see the policy of "the family home" to direct decendents plus say £100,000 index linked to anyone being exempt from tax. If the family home was left to anyone other than spouse, child, grandchild or parent it all gets whacked for 40%. That way the major assett of the family is always protected - no matter what and the reason for buying the house in the first place is protected from house price inflation.

And no one gets a silver spoon without a bitter pill.

People with kids can leave £650k to their offspring before IHT kicks in.

Sad if your money is in your south eastern home.

Not sad if you live up north.

If your kids can't get by on £650k that they've been left then tough titty.

Or do you advocate privelege and a perpetual elite?

The rich don't pay inheritance tax. If you can afford the right lawyers and accountants it's the easiest one to avoid. Full of loopholes that those with the right resources can exploit.

Time to get rid and make it a level playing field.

No. Time to make it unavoidable. Fill the treasury coffers with the assets of the dead rich. And make the newborns rise to the top on merit. Not privlege.

    Or alternatively enforce it probably.

Biggest cause of social inequality, inheritance.

What is so wrong with paying tax that people with so much money want to avoid it.

Tax pays for schools, universities, roads, rail, community centres, playgrounds, hospitals, all the infrastructure and development that make the country a decent place to live.

As pointed out it kicks in at only £650 which hardly rich

It's a nasty vindictive tax introduced by socialist to oppress the masses.

I think you've missed a few noughts off the end. If the masses have £650,000 worth of assets then there really has to have been some serious wealth distribution going on in this country. Whatever is suppressing the masses it sure as hell isn't Inheritance Tax which was introduced in 1986 when, if memory serves me correctly, that well known working class heroine, Maggie Thatcher was PM.

True! Long before Marx and Engels got their heads together and when the masses didn't have two groats to rub together. :D

You provide them with a better life by giving them all the love and support they need to be the best person they can possibly be, not by giving them a cheque when you die

True but it is certainly used to oppress the masses now. Like you say 650, 000 hardly a fortune is it
